Gym fees in Mumbai per month, by type of gym
Gym fees in Mumbai swing widely by neighbourhood, even within one chain. The table sets each kind of gym side by side as a monthly figure, using prices the gyms publish where they exist, and a deals platform’s estimates where they don’t. Everything was checked on 27 October 2026.
| Type of gym | Published or estimated price | Per month | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open spaces: Shivaji Park, Priyadarshini Park | Free entry | ₹0 | LBB |
| Joggers' Park, Bandra West | ₹2 entry for adults | About ₹60 if you go daily | LBB |
| Building or society gym | Inside your maintenance bill | Varies | Ask your society |
| Budget neighbourhood gym | From about ₹1,500 a month | ₹1,500 and up | magicpin, 2026 |
| Mid-range chains | ₹2,500–4,000 a month | ₹2,500–4,000 | magicpin, 2026 |
| Gold's Gym, annual plan | ₹15,500–₹39,399 a year | about ₹1,290–3,285 | Gold's Gym branch pages |
| Cult gyms and centres | ₹1,032–1,691 a month, ‘onwards’ | ₹1,032 and up | cult.fit Mumbai page |
| Premium chains | ₹3,500–6,000 a month | ₹3,500–6,000 | magicpin, 2026 |
If you came here for the average gym fees in Mumbai, magicpin’s guide (header dated 1 October 2026, footer April 2026) gives the clearest single answer: about ₹1,500 a month for budget centres, ₹2,500–4,000 for mid-range, and ₹6,000 or more for premium chains. Several of the published Gold's Gym prices below come in under those estimates once you divide an annual plan by twelve.
Gold's Gym fees in Mumbai, branch by branch
Gold's Gym is the one big chain that publishes Mumbai prices: an annual membership on each branch page, with the enrolment fee and 5% GST shown at checkout on most of them. The branches tell you more about Mumbai gym pricing than any estimate does.
| Branch | Annual price listed | Total with enrolment and GST | Works out per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kandivali West | ₹13,762 + ₹1,000 enrolment | ₹15,500 | about ₹1,290 |
| Lower Parel | ₹20,186 + ₹1,000 enrolment | ₹22,245 | about ₹1,855 |
| Bandra West | ₹36,523 + ₹1,000 enrolment | ₹39,399 | about ₹3,285 |
| Breach Candy | ₹40,000 | Not itemised on the page | about ₹3,335 before any extras |
magicpin estimates Gold's Gym in Mumbai at ₹3,000–5,000 a month. Only Bandra and Breach Candy come near that on an annual plan; Kandivali West works out at well under half of it. None of the branch pages list a monthly plan, so if you want to pay month by month, ask the branch, and expect it to cost more per month than the annual figure.
Why the same gym costs more in Bandra than in Kandivali
Gold's Bandra West costs ₹39,399 a year, and Gold's Kandivali West costs ₹15,500: about ₹23,900 more, or roughly two and a half times the price, for the same brand. Breach Candy is higher still. Gold's doesn’t explain the gap on its pages, but its two dearest branches are in Bandra and Breach Candy, two of the city’s most expensive addresses, and its cheapest is in Kandivali, much further up the Western line.
It isn’t pure geography, though. Lower Parel is in the island city, and its Gold's branch, in an office tower, cost ₹22,245 a year, much nearer to Kandivali than to Bandra. Two practical points follow:
- Pick the gym by your daily route, not your postcode. If you live in Bandra but work in Lower Parel, a gym near the office could save you over ₹17,000 a year at Gold's prices, and it’s on the way.
- Don’t pay a premium for a gym you’ll reach by train. An expensive gym two stations away is the one you skip in the monsoon. The cheapest membership is the one you actually use.
Free and nearly free: open gyms and parks in Mumbai
Search for a free open gym in Mumbai and you’ll mostly find parks with space to train rather than rows of outdoor machines. LBB’s guide to open-air workout spots lists entry rules for several (the guide is undated, so confirm the hours before you go):
- Shivaji Park, Dadar: running tracks and open ground, free entry, listed as open around the clock.
- Priyadarshini Park, Malabar Hill: a walking and running track, free, listed as open 5 AM to 9 PM.
- Maheshwari Udyan (King's Circle Garden), Matunga: free, listed as open 8 AM to 9.30 PM.
- Joggers' Park, Bandra West: three jogging tracks, ₹2 for adults and ₹1 for children, open 5 to 9 AM and 3.30 to 9 PM.
- Forest Park, Powai: a walking path, free, open 7 to 10 AM and 5 to 7 PM.
- Sagar Upvan, Colaba: jogging tracks, ₹15 entry.
These spaces are fine for walking, running and bodyweight circuits; they don’t let you add load as you get stronger. Our guide to running tracks in Mumbai covers the parks and promenades in more detail.
The city is also building an indoor option. In October 2025, Swarajya reported that the BMC had floated a ₹33 crore tender to redevelop its Krida Bhavan in Fort, until then a facility for civic employees only, into a public gymkhana with indoor gyms, swimming pools and a cafeteria, “open to all citizens.” No fees or opening date had been announced when we checked.
Mumbai’s gymkhanas: what a membership really means
In most cities, a sports club is just an expensive gym. In Mumbai, the old gymkhanas are a different thing. Navbharat Live reported in June 2026 that 16 of the city’s gymkhanas, including the Bombay, Islam, Parsi and Hindu Gymkhanas, sit on government land leased in the British era, that many of those leases have expired, and that the state is drafting stricter renewal conditions, including market-rate rent and a seat for the district collector on each management committee.
Membership is the hard part. When The Wire reported on these clubs in 2016, entry fees at the bigger ones were around ₹80 lakh to ₹1 crore and beyond, and waiting lists ran into years. If you already belong to one, its gym may be the best-value training space you have. If you don’t, it isn’t a realistic option for a monthly gym budget, and the BMC’s planned public gymkhana is the closest thing to an alternative.
Your building gym: the one already in your maintenance bill
Many newer towers in Powai, Goregaon, Lower Parel and the western suburbs have a gym on the podium or the top floor, paid for through society maintenance. In Mumbai it’s often a single room: a treadmill, a cable machine and dumbbells that may stop around 20 kg. That’s enough for months of beginner and intermediate progress if the sessions are planned well, and it costs nothing extra.
Before joining a chain, count what’s in the building gym and check its hours. If the kit covers the basics, the money is better spent on coaching than on a second gym. That’s what Personal Gym Training in Mumbai is for: a coach on live video plans each session around your building’s equipment.
Cult and gym passes in Mumbai
Cult.fit sells access as passes rather than single-gym memberships: cultpass ELITE covers group classes and both ELITE and PRO gyms in a city, while cultpass PRO covers PRO gyms with limited class access. Its Mumbai listing in October 2026 included 25 centres, from Nepean Sea Road and Prabhadevi to Borivali, Vasai and Virar, plus Gold's Gym branches in Powai and Lower Parel. These were the prices on some of the cards:
| Centre | Type | From, per month |
|---|---|---|
| Reshape Fitness, Ghatkopar East | PRO gym | ₹1,032 |
| Step Up Fitness, Vile Parle East | ELITE gym | ₹1,383 |
| Cult Andheri East | Group classes | ₹1,487 |
| Cult Powai-Raheja Vihar | Group classes | ₹1,555 |
| Cult Ghatkopar | Group classes and gym | ₹1,591 |
| Cult Sion | Group classes and gym | ₹1,691 |
Cult shows these as effective monthly prices, marked with an asterisk and ‘onwards’, with offers already applied. Ask for the total for the plan length you want, including taxes, before paying. A pass is worth it if your week moves between home in, say, Mulund and an office in Lower Parel. If you’ll only use one gym, a membership there is usually cheaper.
Monthly, quarterly or yearly: the Mumbai maths
An annual plan is where Mumbai gym prices look lowest, and where most of the risk sits. Using the Gold's prices above:
- Kandivali West at ₹15,500 a year is about ₹1,290 a month if you go all year. Stop after four months and you’ve paid about ₹3,875 a month.
- Bandra West at ₹39,399 a year is about ₹3,285 a month all year, or about ₹13,130 a month if you stop after three.
- A month-by-month plan, where a branch offers one, costs more per month but leaves you free to stop when the monsoon or a job change gets in the way.
A sensible rule: buy the shortest plan you’re sure you’ll finish, then renew for longer. Our national guide to gym membership fees in India covers refund rights, including a 2024 South Mumbai consumer commission order against a chain.
GST, enrolment fees and what to check before paying
- GST is 5%. Gold's Mumbai checkout pages add 5% GST to the annual fee and enrolment. If a gym quotes 18%, ask why.
- Enrolment fees. Gold's Kandivali West, Lower Parel and Bandra add ₹1,000. Ask every gym whether a joining fee applies and whether it’s waived on a longer plan.
- Freezes. None of the Gold's Mumbai pages we checked state a freeze policy. Get it in writing; a two-week work trip without a freeze is two weeks paid for nothing.
- Peak hours. Visit at the hour you’ll really train. A quiet gym at 11 AM can have a queue for the bench at 7.30 PM, when the trains empty out.
- The walk from the station. Check the route in rain. A gym ten minutes from the station in October can feel much further in July.
- Trainer costs. Floor help is usually included; one-to-one coaching is extra. Our guide to personal trainer fees in Mumbai covers what that costs.
Coaching on top of a gym costs ₹799 a session with us, or ₹7,070 for 12; see our pricing page. If your flat is your gym, Personal Home Training in Mumbai needs only a mat. For everything else, see online personal training in Mumbai.
