Every published gym fee in Surat we could find, side by side
Surat is short on published gym prices. Most gyms in the city quote fees at the counter or on WhatsApp, the national chains we checked don't list a Surat price online, and no deals platform has a Surat price table. What does exist is unusually useful, though: two Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) fee schedules, one private gym that puts its full rate card on its website, an older 2023 roundup of named gyms, and a crowd-sourced average. Here they are together, each with its date, as we checked them in October 2026.
| Gym or source | What it costs | Per month, roughly | Dated |
|---|---|---|---|
| SMC Central Zone complex, Manchharpura Kolsawad (listed as Gymnastics) | ₹590 a year, tax included | about ₹49 | Page updated September 2025 |
| SMC West Zone complex, Adajan, 1 year | ₹3,434 a year all-in | about ₹286 | Page updated September 2025 |
| SMC West Zone complex, Adajan, 6 months | ₹2,311 all-in | about ₹385 | Page updated September 2025 |
| S R Gym, Adajan, 12 months | ₹9,000 | ₹750 | Reviewed September 2026 |
| S R Gym, Katargam, 12 months | ₹10,000 | about ₹833 | Reviewed September 2026 |
| S R Gym, either branch, month to month | from ₹1,700 | ₹1,700 | Reviewed September 2026 |
| Numbeo crowd-sourced average, Surat | ₹1,772 a month (range ₹800–2,500) | ₹1,772 | Updated 26 October 2026 |
| FITPASS multi-gym pass, valid in Surat | ₹1,750 or ₹2,083 a month | ₹1,750–2,083 | Checked October 2026 |
The spread is wide because these are different products. An SMC membership buys you time in a municipal room with fixed hours. A private gym sells longer hours, more equipment and sometimes air conditioning. A pass sells variety across several gyms. The sections below take each one in turn, starting with the cheapest.
SMC gym fees: the Adajan sports complex schedule, line by line
The Surat Municipal Corporation's West Zone sports complex in Adajan has two entrances, one from Amidhara Wadi Road and one from Anand Mahal Road, and its fee page breaks the gym charge into every component. We reproduce the gym rows exactly, because the totals only make sense when you see the parts:
| Component | 6 months | 1 year |
|---|---|---|
| Membership fee | ₹1,500 | ₹2,500 |
| Registration fee (25%) | ₹625 | ₹625 |
| Service tax (12%) | ₹180 | ₹300 |
| Education cess and higher education cess | ₹6 | ₹9 |
| Total payable | ₹2,311 | ₹3,434 |
Two things stand out. First, the registration fee is ₹625 on both plans, which makes the six-month plan poor value: you pay ₹2,311 for half a year against ₹3,434 for a full one. If the registration fee is charged again at each renewal, two six-month memberships would cost ₹4,622, about ₹1,200 more than one annual membership. Ask the counter whether renewals repeat it.
Second, the tax lines are out of date. Service tax and education cess were replaced by GST in 2017, so this table almost certainly predates the current tax system, even though the page itself was last updated in September 2025. Under the GST cut announced in September 2025, gym services now carry 5% GST instead of 18%, according to The Tribune. On the ₹2,500 membership that would be ₹125 of tax, not ₹309. Treat ₹3,434 as a ceiling and ask for the current receipt amount.
The same Adajan schedule lists other sports, which matters if a family is joining together: badminton is ₹2,200 a year plus ₹550 registration, skating ₹1,000 plus ₹250, and volleyball or basketball ₹1,200 plus ₹300. A steam bath is ₹80 a sitting, with tax ₹92. The page doesn't list opening hours for the gym, so check timings before you pay.
Kolsawad's ₹590 a year: the cheapest line in any Surat fee table
The SMC's Central Zone sports complex at Manchharpura Kolsawad lists a first-floor activity called Gymnastics at ₹500 a year, plus 9% SGST and 9% CGST of ₹45 each, for ₹590 in total with no registration fee. No six-month option is listed for it. The complex runs a morning session from 6 to 10 AM and an afternoon session from 4 to 8 PM, and the first floor has separate changing rooms and toilets for men and women.
Read this one carefully. The page says Gymnastics, not Gym, and it doesn't say whether the room is a weights gym or a gymnastics hall. If you want barbells and machines, go and look before paying. If the application comes through a registered organisation, the SMC asks for a ₹1,000 security deposit on this activity. And as with Adajan, the tax shown is the old 18%, so the real figure may be lower.
Private gym membership in Surat: one gym's full rate card
S R Gym, which says it has run in Surat since 1999 and has branches in Adajan and Katargam, publishes its prices on its own website, last reviewed in September 2026. It's a single operator describing its own rates, so it tells you what one established neighbourhood gym charges, not what every gym in Surat charges:
| Plan | Price | Works out to |
|---|---|---|
| Day pass | ₹300 | Useful for one trial visit |
| 1 month | from ₹1,700 | ₹1,700 a month |
| 12 months, Adajan | ₹9,000 | ₹750 a month |
| 12 months, Katargam | ₹10,000 | about ₹833 a month |
| Couple, 12 months, Adajan | ₹16,000 for two | ₹8,000 a person |
Paying a year upfront at Adajan saves ₹11,400 compared with twelve months at ₹1,700, which is the usual trade at Indian gyms: a big discount for a commitment most people don't keep. The page also says a one-time joining fee is common in Surat without giving its own amount, and doesn't say whether GST is included. Ask for the total payable on day one.
The same page describes the city's market from the operator's side: chain gyms in Vesu and on VIP Road sit at the higher end and often want annual contracts, while neighbourhood gyms in Katargam, Varachha and Amroli are cheaper and usually take monthly cash. That matches the general pattern in Indian cities, but it's a gym owner's summary, not a survey.
Named Surat gyms and chains: what was published, and how old it is
If you searched for a particular gym's fees in Surat, the most detailed list of named gyms we found is a Stanza Living roundup from January 2023. Its figures are nearly four years old and predate the GST cut, so treat them as a rough historical guide only:
| Gym | Price in January 2023 |
|---|---|
| Gold's Gym | ₹15,999 a year |
| KG Fitness | ₹15,999 a year |
| Oxyrich Fitness | ₹16,999 a year |
| Our Gym, Parvat Patiya | ₹15,000 a year |
| Talwalkars | ₹4,500 a month |
| The Aksh Body Gym | ₹2,500 a month |
Gold's Gym India's own website, which sells memberships for some branches online, showed no Surat membership for sale when we checked in October 2026, so the 2023 figure couldn't be confirmed. People also search for CB Patel gym membership fees in Surat: we couldn't find any published fee for the C B Patel health club, so you'll need to ask the club directly.
Average gym fees in Surat: the crowd-sourced number
Numbeo, which collects prices from residents, puts a monthly fitness club membership in Surat at ₹1,772, with contributors' figures ranging from ₹800 to ₹2,500, as of its 26 October 2026 update. The Surat page drew 387 price entries of all kinds from 32 contributors in the past year, so the gym figure rests on a small sample. It lines up closely with S R Gym's ₹1,700 monthly rate, which suggests a pay-monthly private gym in Surat commonly costs somewhere around ₹1,500–2,000.
Multi-gym passes cost about the same. FITPASS shows two plans on its Surat page, FITPASS 180 at ₹1,750 a month and FITPASS 360 at ₹2,083 a month, and lists partner gyms in localities including Adajan, Althan, Athwa, Amroli and Anand Mahal Road. The same two prices appear on its pages for other Gujarat cities, so they're national pass prices, not Surat-specific ones. A pass suits you if you move between, say, an office in Athwa and a home in Adajan.
Twelve months of gym in Surat, five ways
| Option | Paid how | 12-month cost | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| SMC Kolsawad (Gymnastics) | Once a year | ₹590 | Check it's a weights room |
| SMC Adajan | Once a year | ₹3,434 (less if GST is applied at 5%) | Fixed hours; no trainer |
| S R Gym, Adajan | Once a year | ₹9,000 | Joining fee and GST not stated |
| Private gym at the Numbeo average | Monthly | about ₹21,264 | Pay only while you go |
| FITPASS 180 | Monthly | ₹21,000 | Partner gyms and slots vary |
The cheapest way to lift weights in Surat, on paper, is an annual SMC membership. The most flexible is monthly at a private gym or on a pass, at roughly six times the price. The middle ground, a private annual plan like S R Gym's ₹9,000, is only good value if you'll still be going in month eight.
Gym fees in Surat for women, couples and students
Searches for a gym in Surat with fees for females usually want one of two things: a separate women's rate, or a women's batch. Neither SMC schedule lists a separate women's fee; both charge one rate, and the Kolsawad complex lists separate changing rooms for women and men. S R Gym's couple plan in Adajan, ₹16,000 a year for two, is the only published discount for training as a pair, ₹1,000 a person less than two single annual memberships. We found no published student rate at any Surat gym. If a women's batch or a student discount matters to you, ask for it in writing at the front desk.
Before you pay any Surat gym
- Get the total for day one. Membership, joining or registration fee, and GST, each on its own line. At the SMC's Adajan complex the registration fee alone is 25% of the membership.
- Check the GST rate. It's 5% on gym services since the September 2025 change. A bill showing 18%, or service tax and cess, is using an old schedule.
- Ask what happens at renewal. Whether the registration fee is charged again changes the maths on six-month SMC plans.
- Visit in your own time slot. A gym that's empty at 3 PM can be packed at 7 PM. Go when you'll actually train.
- Buy a day pass or a month first. S R Gym sells a ₹300 day pass. A month at ₹1,700 is cheaper than an unused annual plan.
Not sure you'll use a gym at all? Surat's parks and open spaces cover a lot of the cardio people pay a gym for: see our guide to running tracks in Surat, and if you're training for something specific, our guide to treks near Surat. Food matters as much as the membership, and our healthy food guide for Surat covers the city's own dishes.
A cheap Surat gym plus a coach on video
A low-cost membership is only cheap if you use it well. Many people who join an SMC gym or a neighbourhood gym in Surat have the equipment but no plan. MakeMyFitness coaches you live on a video call while you train at your own gym: the coach watches your form on your phone, corrects it in real time, and plans each week. There's no studio and nobody comes to your gym; every session is online, 6 AM to 8 PM, every day.
Here's the honest arithmetic. An Adajan SMC membership at about ₹286 a month plus our 4-week personal gym training in Surat plan at ₹7,070 for 12 sessions comes to about ₹7,356 a month. If you'd rather train at home with dumbbells or bands, personal home training in Surat is ₹899 a session. Our full prices are below and on the pricing page.
| Program | One session | 4-week plan (12 sessions) | Per session on the plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Gym Training1:1, 45 minutes | ₹799 | ₹7,070 | about ₹589 |
| Personal Home Training1:1, 45 minutes | ₹899 | ₹8,080 | about ₹673 |
| Rehab & Recovery1:1, once a doctor or physio has cleared you | ₹1,299 | ₹12,121 | about ₹1,010 |
| Group ClassesPer person, small group | ₹499 | ₹4,040 | about ₹337 |
