Mangalore gym fees at a glance, October 2026
Mangalore gym fees are hard to find in writing. The neighbourhood gyms in Bejai, Kankanady and Kadri that most people join publish no price list online, and Gold's Gym, the one national chain whose branch prices we could open, has no Mangaluru branch. What we could verify on 27 October 2026 is below, turned into one monthly figure so you can compare.
| Option | Per month | What you get | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hostel, college or apartment gym | Usually included in rent, fees or maintenance | Basic kit, fixed hours | Ask the warden or association |
| Typical local gym | ₹1,560 average (answers ₹600–3,000) | One gym, unlimited visits | Numbeo, 153 entries in 12 months |
| FITPASS multi-gym pass | ₹1,750 or ₹2,083 | Partner gyms across the city | FITPASS Mangaluru page |
| Mangala Stadium gymnasium | Not published | Government sports complex | Ask the stadium office |
| Gold's Gym | No Mangaluru branch listed | Nearest Karnataka branches are inland | Gold's Gym locator |
If you searched "how much is gym fees" with Mangalore in mind, the short answer is about ₹1,560 a month for a typical gym, with basic gyms from around ₹600 and the top of the reported range at ₹3,000. For how that compares with Bengaluru, Mumbai and the other metros, see our national guide to gym membership fees in India.
The ₹1,560 average: what Mangaluru members report
Numbeo collects prices that its users report city by city. Its Mangalore page, updated on 26 October 2026, put a monthly fitness club membership at ₹1,560 on average, with answers running from ₹600 to ₹3,000. The page says the city had 153 entries in the past 12 months from 13 different contributors, so it's a small sample: use it to judge quotes, not as a price list.
Numbeo's same page gives Mangalore's average monthly take-home salary as ₹37,907. On those two figures, an average gym costs about 4% of an average salary in the city. That's a reasonable share for something you'll use three or four times a week, and it puts the ₹3,000 top of the range at about 8%.
Another way to see the ₹1,560: Numbeo's Mangalore page puts a meal at an inexpensive restaurant at ₹300 and a cinema ticket at ₹250. A month of gym access costs about the same as five cheap restaurant meals out, and if you go 12 times a month it works out to about ₹130 a visit.
| Monthly quote | Where it sits | What to expect for it |
|---|---|---|
| Under ₹1,000 | Bottom of the ₹600–3,000 range | Basic weights room, possibly no air-conditioning, busy at peak hours |
| ₹1,000–2,000 | Around the ₹1,560 average | A typical neighbourhood gym with cardio, machines and free weights |
| ₹2,000–3,000 | Top of the reported range | Newer equipment, air-conditioning, classes, more space |
| Over ₹3,000 | Above anything Numbeo users reported | Ask what justifies it: pool, steam room, included training |
FITPASS in Mangaluru: one pass, several gyms
FITPASS sells one subscription that gets you into partner gyms and studios. Its Mangaluru gym page advertised two plans in October 2026: FITPASS 180 at ₹1,750 a month and FITPASS 360 at ₹2,083 a month. Gyms tagged Mangaluru on that page included AB Fitness in Kavoor, Zeus Fitness Club in Bendoor and Cobra Fitness Club in Valencia, and its fitness-centre page lists partner localities such as Alake, Ashok Nagar, Attavar, Balmatta, Bejai and Bolar.
Both plans cost more than the ₹1,560 average for a single gym, so the pass pays for itself only if you'll really use more than one gym. That suits a few kinds of Mangaluru routine:
- Home in one part of the city, work in another, for example living near Kavoor and working around Balmatta, with a partner gym near each.
- People who move often, like students between hostels and family homes, or doctors on rotating hospital shifts.
- Anyone who wants variety: a weights gym on some days and a studio class on others.
| Visits a month | Average gym at ₹1,560 | FITPASS 180 at ₹1,750 | FITPASS 360 at ₹2,083 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 (twice a week) | ₹195 | ₹219 | ₹260 |
| 12 (three times a week) | ₹130 | ₹146 | ₹174 |
| 20 (five times a week) | ₹78 | ₹88 | ₹104 |
If you'll only ever go to the one gym at the end of your road, buy that gym's own membership instead. Before you subscribe, check in the FITPASS app that the specific partner gyms you'd use are still listed, since partners change.
Why there's no chain price list for Mangaluru
In Bengaluru or Kochi you can benchmark local gyms against a big chain's published annual price. Mangaluru doesn't have that yardstick. Gold's Gym's own locator, checked in October 2026, lists no Mangaluru branch: its Karnataka gyms are in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Mandya, Mysuru and Tumakuru. Other chains we looked for either had no Mangaluru branch we could confirm or didn't publish a Mangaluru price we could open.
So the Mangaluru market is mostly independent gyms that set their own fees and quote them in person, plus the multi-gym pass above. That isn't a bad thing for you. Independent gyms often have more room to negotiate, especially on quarterly and half-yearly plans, and many will let you try a session before you pay.
Mangala Stadium and public sports facilities in Mangaluru
Mangala Stadium, near the centre of Mangaluru, is the city's main public sports complex. Its Wikipedia entry describes a five-lane swimming pool next to the stadium and a gymnasium among the adjacent facilities. Sources disagree on who runs it: the entry says the Karnataka Department of Youth Affairs and Sports manages the stadium, while its information box lists the Mangaluru City Corporation as owner and operator.
We couldn't find a published monthly fee for public use of the gymnasium, from either the state sports department or the corporation. Facilities at government sports complexes are often built around athletes and coaching camps first, so ask the stadium office whether adults can join, at what hours, and for how much, before planning around it.
College, hostel and apartment gyms
For students at Mangaluru's colleges, the first gym is often the one in their college or hostel. The same goes for newer apartment buildings, where a gym room comes with the maintenance. None of these shows up in a price survey, and for many people they're the cheapest gym they'll ever use. Before relying on one, check:
- What weights there are. A set of dumbbells up to about 20 kg, an adjustable bench and a barbell will carry a beginner for months. A treadmill and one multi-station machine won't.
- Damp and rust. Coastal humidity and heavy monsoon rain are hard on ground-floor gym rooms. Look for rusted bars and slippery floors.
- Hours and rules. Hostel gyms may close early or during exams; apartment gyms may not allow outside trainers.
If the equipment is decent but you don't know what to do with it, personal gym training in Mangaluru puts a coach on video beside you in that room. If there's no gym at all, personal home training in Mangaluru needs only a mat and some floor.
Monthly, quarterly or yearly: timing a Mangalore membership
Long plans are cheaper per month, but they only save money if you keep going. Mangaluru's long, heavy monsoon is when a lot of routines break, because getting to the gym through flooded roads stops being worth it. A year's membership bought in April or May has its first test within weeks.
- 1
Start with one month
Even if the gym pushes a yearly plan, pay for a month and see whether the timings, crowd and travel work for you.
- 2
Move to a quarter
After a month of steady attendance, a three-month plan usually brings the monthly price down without much risk.
- 3
Ask about freezes in writing
If you might be away for exams, Gulf travel or a family event, get the pause rules on the receipt, not just in conversation.
- 4
Keep a rainy-day plan
Agree with yourself what you'll do at home on days you can't get out: a short dumbbell or bodyweight session keeps the habit.
If you're new to all this, our guide on how to start going to the gym covers what to do in the first weeks.
Gym fee plus a coach: the full monthly cost in Mangaluru
A membership gets you through the door. Coaching is a separate cost. UrbanPro's Mangalore listings put personal trainers at ₹500–1,000 an hour, and the middle of 22 listed rates was ₹600; our guide to personal trainer fees in Mangalore breaks those down by locality.
| Combination | Gym | Coaching | Total a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local gym, no coach | ₹1,560 | ₹0 | ₹1,560 |
| Local gym and a ₹600-an-hour trainer | ₹1,560 | ₹7,200 for 12 sessions | ₹8,760 |

| No gym, MakeMyFitness group classes at home | ₹0 | ₹4,040 on the 4-week plan | ₹4,040 |
| Program | One session | 4-week plan (12 sessions) | Per session on the plan |
|---|---|---|---|

| Personal Home Training1:1, 45 minutes | ₹899 | ₹8,080 | about ₹673 |
| Rehab & Recovery1:1, once a doctor or physio has cleared you | ₹1,299 | ₹12,121 | about ₹1,010 |
| Group ClassesPer person, small group | ₹499 | ₹4,040 | about ₹337 |
Prices are the same in every city; the pricing page has the details. If cost matters most, group classes in Mangaluru at about ₹337 a session on the plan are the cheapest way to have a coach watching your form.
