Most Mumbaikars who hire a trainer go two or three times a week, so the useful number is what a month costs, not an hour. Nobody publishes an official rate card: independent trainers type their own prices into a marketplace, chains quote at the front desk, and a deals platform estimates the rest. Here is every published Mumbai figure, checked on 27 October 2026, turned into the cost of 12 sessions. Treat each as an opening number, not a final quote.

Read down the table and the Mumbai story is clear: a month with a chain trainer can cost three times or more what a month with a good independent trainer does, and the chain figure comes on top of a membership. Memberships vary hugely across the city and are covered branch by branch in our guide to gym fees in Mumbai.

Malabar Hill to Dahisar: does the island city charge more?

The common assumption is that a South Mumbai trainer costs more than one in the western suburbs. UrbanPro's listings don't bear that out. Its Mumbai results report 1,099 gym and fitness trainers in all, and on the first page the island-city trainers landed in the middle of the range. The two most expensive listings, both ₹2,000 an hour, came from Kurla East and Ashok Nagar.

Where the trainer is basedPer hourYears of experience
Malabar Hill₹50015
Tardeo₹1,0006
Worli Sea Face₹8335
Dadar East₹8332
Sion₹1,0005
Kurla East₹2,00015
Khar West₹1,0001
Andheri West (five trainers)₹313, ₹900, ₹1,000, ₹1,200 and ₹1,5002–10
Vile Parle West₹5554
Malad East₹7008
Borivali West₹30018
Dahisar East₹1,0004
What Mumbai trainers typed in as their hourly rate on UrbanPro, south to north (27 October 2026)

₹1,000 an hour was the single commonest rate: 9 of the 25 trainers on that page chose exactly that figure, and it was also the middle listing, far above the ₹650 headline average. Years in the job don't line up with price. Borivali West's trainer lists 18 years and ₹300; one in Andheri West lists two years and ₹1,500. And Andheri West on its own spans ₹313 to ₹1,500, so the suburb says less than the person does.

Where an island-city premium does appear is in memberships: the same chain charges very different amounts in Bandra and in Kandivali. If your trainer coaches you inside a gym, that membership is part of the cost, so check the Mumbai gym fees guide before deciding where to train.

Cult, Gold's Gym and Anytime Fitness trainers in Mumbai

Search for gym trainer fees in Mumbai and what you mostly find are chain estimates, because none of the big chains lists a personal training price on its own site. magicpin's guide to personal trainer costs, updated 8 May 2026, is the best source available, and it treats each chain differently:

  • Cult.fit: roughly ₹15,000–25,000 a month for personal training packages, a single range given for Delhi and Mumbai together.
  • Gold's Gym: roughly ₹1,800–3,000 a session in Mumbai, with magicpin noting that Gold's trainers generally cost more in Mumbai than in Delhi. Its monthly range of ₹18,000–30,000 lumps Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore together.
  • Anytime Fitness: ₹12,000–20,000 a month, a national figure with nothing specific to Mumbai.

Cult's own Mumbai pages do offer one concrete thing. In October 2026, several Mumbai Cult centres, Ghatkopar, Sion, Powai-Raheja Vihar and Andheri East among them, advertised a free Kickstart Onboarding Pack with membership: two one-to-one sessions with a trainer. That's a way to watch a chain trainer coach you before spending on a package. Cult's Mumbai list also takes in Gold's Gym branches in Powai and Lower Parel, so the two names overlap on the ground.

A chain trainer is tied to the branch's shift roster. If whether you make your 7 PM session depends on the Western line running on time, find out how late cancellations are treated, and whether a missed session carries over, before buying a month.

Home personal trainer in Mumbai: the commute, the floor and the society

On UrbanPro, a trainer who comes to your Mumbai flat is priced exactly like one at a gym, ₹500–800 an hour, and small groups come to ₹400–640 an hour each. What that hourly figure doesn't show are three costs particular to Mumbai.

  • The commute. Getting from Andheri to Bandra at 7 PM can eat most of an hour each way. Home-visit trainers here tend to bunch clients by area, favour early-morning slots and hold firm on cancellations, because a cancelled visit still cost them the journey.
  • The floor. A 1BHK in Dadar or Goregaon may fit a mat and little else. A trainer who turns up with kettlebells and a step can't use them without somewhere to put them, so ask what they'll bring and how much space it needs.
  • The building. Many housing societies log every visitor at the gate, and some bar outside trainers from the society gym. Read your society's rules before signing up for a month.

What a trainer in the room really offers is touch: shifting your hips in a squat, steadying you through a single-leg move. For an absolute beginner, a few sessions like that are money well spent. After that, personal home training in Mumbai can carry on over video, with no one stuck in traffic.

Online personal trainer in Mumbai: what video can and can't do

Live video coaching is the other way to train at home in Mumbai without anyone travelling. Our prices don't change from city to city, and every session is a live call with a certified coach watching each rep.

MakeMyFitness prices, the same in every city. Every session is live on video; slots run from 6 AM to 8 PM, and a 4-week plan is three sessions a week.

Each one-to-one session lasts 45 minutes; slots open from 6 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week; and the 4-week plan is three sessions a week. The limits are real. Over video, a coach can't spot a heavy bench press, can't physically reposition you and can't pass you a lighter weight. They can see every rep through your phone, correct you as it happens and plan around whatever space you have, from a podium-level gym in a Powai tower to the strip of floor between sofa and window. By the minute, our ₹589 plan price is about ₹13, against about ₹11 for a 60-minute hour at UrbanPro's ₹650 average. Next to ₹1,000, the rate Mumbai trainers list most often, ₹589 a session is a clear saving. Full details are on our pricing page.

Spending less on a Mumbai trainer

  • Coach twice, train once alone. Two coached sessions a week, plus a third on your own from the coach's plan, keeps direction for two-thirds of the cost.
  • Use the free sessions. Cult's two Kickstart sessions with a membership cost nothing extra.
  • Train with a friend. UrbanPro's small-group estimate is ₹400–640 an hour per person; our live Group Classes are ₹499 a class, or ₹4,040 for 12.
  • Keep the gym you already have. If your building or office has one, personal gym training in Mumbai puts a coach on video beside you there, with no new membership.

    Look the certificate up

SPEFL-SC, the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council, keeps a Find a Trainer listing plus a verification portal that also covers non-NSQF certificates. Our article on how to pick a personal trainer explains the other certificates you'll see.

  2. 2

    Try before you buy

Cult's two Kickstart sessions, or one paid trial with an independent trainer, will show whether the coach asks about injuries and goals before handing you a weight.

  3. 3

    Settle the monsoon rule

Write down how many sessions, how many minutes each, what happens when the trains stop in a downpour, and whether a diet plan is part of the deal.

  4. 4

    See if they actually coach

A good trainer stops a set to fix your form and tells you why. If they mostly count reps and glance at their phone, ₹1,000 an hour is paying for company. Note your weights and reps each week so you can tell whether the plan is moving.
