Personal trainer fees in Varanasi aren't printed by any gym chain, so the most useful public evidence is UrbanPro, where trainers in the city set their own rates. UrbanPro files Varanasi trainers under three overlapping lists, and each gives a different headline average. Here they are side by side, as they stood in late October 2026.

UrbanPro list (last updated)ListingsAverage it statesOne-to-one band in its FAQ
Personal trainers (21 October)52₹750 an hour₹500–1,000 an hour; ₹6,000–12,000 for 12 classes
Gym trainers (19 October)11₹650 an hour₹500–800 an hour; ₹6,000–9,600 for 12 classes
Health and fitness trainers (24 October)218₹650 an hour₹500–800 an hour; ₹6,000–9,600 for 12 classes
UrbanPro's Varanasi fitness lists compared (checked October 2026)

If you want someone for strength training or fat loss, the personal-trainer list is the one to read. Its FAQ band of ₹500–1,000 an hour also appears, rupee for rupee, on UrbanPro's Patna and Ranchi pages, so it's a site-wide estimate rather than a Varanasi measurement. The rates Varanasi trainers type onto their own profiles are more telling, and they're lower.

What Varanasi trainers actually print on their profiles

Of the 25 profiles on the first page of UrbanPro's Varanasi personal-trainer list, 21 show an hourly rate. Grouped by price, with the locality each trainer names:

RateTrainersLocalities on the profiles
₹3002Shivpur Bypass Road (Ayodhyapuri Colony), Chitaipur Kandwa
₹4001Bhelupur
₹5008BHU, Bhelupur, Bhojuveer, Orderly Bazar, Bhulanpur PAC, Bhullanpur DLW Colony, Kailashpuri Colony, Aurangabad
₹6003Sigra Chhittupura, Chitaipur, Paharia
₹700–8004Paharia (two), Lanka, BHU
₹1,000–1,5002Pandeypur, Bhullanpur DLW Colony
₹5,0001BHU
Hourly rates on UrbanPro's Varanasi personal-trainer list, first page (updated 21 October 2026)

₹500 is both the most common rate and the middle of the 21, and 18 of them fall between ₹300 and ₹800. The single ₹5,000 listing, near BHU, is six times the next-highest ordinary rate; it's most likely a monthly or package figure in an hourly field. That's our interpretation, not the profile's, so ask what it covers. UrbanPro's smaller gym-trainer list shows four printed rates, ₹200 and ₹500 in Bhelupur, ₹1,000 in Bhojuveer and ₹3,000 in Aktha, and the much larger health-and-fitness list, which mixes several kinds of instructor, averages about ₹474 across the 19 rates on its first page.

Trainers around BHU, Lanka and Assi

A noticeable share of Varanasi's listed trainers give BHU or the streets around it as their base. On the personal-trainer list, BHU-area profiles print ₹500, ₹800 and ₹5,000 an hour, Lanka ₹750, and one Assi trainer lists no rate. The health-and-fitness list adds more around the campus, with printed rates of ₹500 near BHU and ₹200–400 in Lanka.

For students on a budget, the useful point is that ₹500 an hour is available on the campus side of the city too, and sharing a trainer between two or three hostel friends cuts it further, if the trainer agrees. Check your hostel's rules before arranging sessions there, and agree in advance where the sessions will actually happen: a hostel room, a terrace, a campus ground or a local gym.

Rates elsewhere in Varanasi: Paharia, Pandeypur, Sigra and DLW

Away from the university, printed rates are similar. Paharia has three listings at ₹600, ₹700 and ₹750; Sigra Chhittupura one at ₹600; Pandeypur one at ₹1,000. The Bhullanpur DLW Colony side has two very different figures, ₹500 and ₹1,500, which shows how much one trainer's experience or package can move the price within a single colony. Bhelupur, Bhojuveer, Orderly Bazar and Kailashpuri Colony all have trainers at ₹500.

If you want a trainer to come to your home, pick one who's based near you. Narrow old-city lanes and busy main roads can make some trips across Varanasi slow at peak hours, and a trainer who has to cross the city will either charge for it or struggle to be on time. Ask directly whether the rate changes for a home visit.

A home personal trainer in Varanasi: what a month costs

At Varanasi's common rate of ₹500 a session, and at ₹750 for a more experienced trainer, here's what a month comes to depending on how often you train:

Sessions a weekSessions a monthAt ₹500 eachAt ₹750 each
Two8₹4,000₹6,000
Three12₹6,000₹9,000
Four16₹8,000₹12,000

If the trainer works with you in a gym rather than at home, add the membership. Varanasi gyms rarely publish fees, but Numbeo's crowd-sourced average is ₹1,200 a month (October 2026). Our guide to gym fees in Varanasi explains what is and isn't published and how to compare quotes. Many gyms also don't allow members to bring an outside trainer, so ask the gym first.

Training on a Varanasi terrace or in a small room

Plenty of Varanasi homes, from old-city houses to newer flats along the bypass, have a terrace or a spare corner that works for training. A home trainer, or a coach on video, needs about two metres by two metres of floor, a mat, and a pair of adjustable dumbbells or a set of resistance bands. On a terrace, train early: from April to June the roof heats up quickly once the sun is high, and evening sessions after sunset are the other option. Ask a home trainer what equipment they bring and what they expect you to buy, since that changes the real monthly cost.

Gym-floor trainers in Varanasi's neighbourhood gyms

Varanasi has no national chain publishing a local price, so gym-floor coaching is sold by neighbourhood gyms, such as the ones FITPASS lists in Mahmoorganj, Maldahiya, Chetganj, Chaukaghat, Durgakund and Sunderpur. None of them shows a trainer fee online. A floor trainer who's paid by the gym will usually help with the basics; one-to-one personal training is a separate fee you agree at the desk. When you get a quote, check four things:

  1. The length of a session. A ₹500 session of 30 minutes is twice the hourly price of a ₹500 hour.
  2. The trainer's qualification. Ask which certificate they hold and which body issued it, and ask to see it.
  3. What you'll keep. A written plan you can follow on days without the trainer is worth more than a month of counted reps.
  4. What happens in May and June. If the gym is hot in the afternoon, agree early-morning or evening sessions before you pay for a month.

Booking a Varanasi trainer: the first week

  1. 1

    Shortlist three nearby profiles

Use the locality on each UrbanPro profile to find trainers on your side of Varanasi, whether that's Lanka and BHU, Sigra and Mahmoorganj, or Paharia and Pandeypur. Note the printed rate for each.

  2. 2

    Ask what the number buys

Confirm whether the figure is per hour, per session or per month, and how long a session lasts. This matters most for listings far from the city's ₹500 norm, such as the ₹1,500 and ₹5,000 profiles.

  3. 3

Book one paid or trial session

Watch whether the trainer asks about injuries and your goal, corrects your technique, and writes anything down. A trainer who only counts reps isn't worth ₹500 an hour.

  4. 4

    Agree the month in writing

Days, times, place, price, and what happens if either of you cancels. A short message on WhatsApp that both of you can refer back to is enough.
