Gym trainer fees in Kolkata: para gym, chain, home or video
In Kolkata, what you pay a trainer depends first on where you train. A para gym or club in Behala or Dum Dum, a chain branch in Salt Lake or New Town, your own living room and a video call each come with a different bill, and only some of those bills are written down anywhere. This is what was published on 27 October 2026, setting by setting.
| Setting | Gym fee you pay first | Trainer fee | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Para gym or club, North or South Kolkata | Agreed at the counter, rarely printed | Listed from ₹200 an hour (Taltala) to ₹1,200 (Behala) | UrbanPro trainer cards |
| Gold's Gym Salt Lake DD30, opposite City Centre 1 | ₹32,567 a year with enrolment and GST | Not published | Gold's Gym branch page |
| Gold's Gym New Town, Action Area I | ₹32,000 a year with enrolment and GST | Listed as a facility, no price | Gold's Gym branch page |
| Cult, Park Street and Salt Lake stadium | Pages said “currently not servicing” | None to compare | cult.fit centre pages |
| A trainer who comes to your home | None | ₹500–800 an hour, UrbanPro's estimate | UrbanPro, Kolkata |
| MakeMyFitness on live video | Whatever your own gym costs, or nothing | ₹7,070 for 12, about ₹589 each | Our price list |
The one chain number you'll see quoted online is magicpin's: the deals platform's 2026 guide estimates gym-chain personal training in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru at ₹12,000–30,000 a month. It has nothing for Kolkata, and no chain here prints one. Membership is the other half of a chain trainer's cost, and our guide to gym fees in Kolkata goes through it branch by branch.
Taltala to Rajarhat: eleven Kolkata trainers and their hourly rates
Kolkata's trainer market is big by UrbanPro's standards. Its Kolkata gym page showed 524 trainers and gyms on the day we checked (last updated 26 October 2026), more than double its Chandigarh count and over ten times Kochi's. The summary average is the familiar ₹650 an hour, but the price each trainer chose to show tells a more Kolkata-shaped story. The last column is simply the hourly rate times twelve, a month at three sessions a week:
| Neighbourhood | Per hour | Years listed | 12 sessions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taltala | ₹200 | 12 | ₹2,400 |
| Golf Green | ₹250 | 5 | ₹3,000 |
| Garfa Main Road | ₹300 | 8 | ₹3,600 |
| Dum Dum | ₹320 | 1 | ₹3,840 |
| Salt Lake, AE Block | ₹400 | 15 | ₹4,800 |
| Alipore | ₹550 | 12 | ₹6,600 |
| Ballygunge | ₹600 | 12 | ₹7,200 |
| Hatkhola | ₹665 | 17 | ₹7,980 |
| New Alipore | ₹1,000 | 6 | ₹12,000 |
| Behala, Pathak Para | ₹1,200 | 15 | ₹14,400 |
| Rajarhat Gopalpur | ₹3,000 | 6 | ₹36,000 |
Six of those eleven trainers asked less than ₹600 an hour, which puts the typical Kolkata listing below UrbanPro's own average. Years in the job don't explain the order. Taltala's ₹200 trainer lists 12 years; the Salt Lake AE Block trainer with 15 years asks ₹400; Rajarhat Gopalpur's ₹3,000 comes from someone with six. Before weighing a ₹300 quote against a ₹1,000 one, find out whether either includes a diet plan, weekly check-ins or travel.
Most cards carried a “Book a FREE Demo” button, so trying a trainer costs nothing. Several of the listings were gyms rather than people, from Motijhil to Tangra, which fits how Kolkata works: the trainer and the para gym are often one and the same business.
Para gym trainer or a Salt Lake chain: two ways to pay
Older Kolkata neighbourhoods, Dum Dum, Garfa, Behala, run on small local gyms and clubs where whoever manages the floor usually coaches as well. Floor guidance may already be in your monthly fee; a fixed one-to-one slot is a separate conversation, settled face to face rather than from a printed list. In Salt Lake and New Town, the chain gyms do it the other way round: personal training is a package, sold apart from the membership.
Gold's Gym is the chain whose Kolkata pages carry prices. Both the Salt Lake DD30 branch and the New Town branch publish what membership costs, ₹32,567 and ₹32,000 a year respectively in October 2026, including enrolment and GST. New Town names personal training among its facilities; neither page puts a figure on it. Cult's pages for Park Street and the Salt Lake stadium said Cult was “currently not servicing” those centres, so there was no Cult trainer price in the city to find.
Personal trainer at home in Kolkata: the EM Bypass is in the price
UrbanPro charges the same ₹500–800 an hour for a Kolkata trainer at your home as at a gym. The difference is how much of that hour went into reaching you. Someone coaching in Ballygunge, Salt Lake and Howrah on the same evening can lose hours to the EM Bypass and the bridges, so home-visit trainers here usually stick to one side of the city and either charge more for a long trip or say no to it.
- Old North and South Kolkata houses. Tall ceilings and wide rooms make good training spaces, and nobody signs you in at a gate.
- New Town and Rajarhat towers. Security logs every visitor, and some complexes keep outside trainers out of the clubhouse gym. Ask the association first.
- Monsoon evenings. A flooded lane can cancel a visit an hour before it starts. Settle how missed sessions are counted before paying for the month.
- Puja season. Trainers' own calendars shift in the festival weeks. Agree in advance whether sessions pause or move.
If you'd rather nobody had to travel, personal home training in Kolkata runs over a live video call, so a waterlogged street only matters if the Wi-Fi goes under with it.
What an online personal trainer costs in Kolkata, and what video misses
On UrbanPro, Kolkata trainers who teach over video list the same ₹500–800 an hour as those who turn up in person, so online is not automatically the cheaper hour here. What it removes is travel on both sides, the chain package and, if you train at home, the membership. What it can't give you is a pair of hands. Nobody on a call can catch a stalled bench press or nudge your knees out in a squat, so a complete beginner should budget for a few sessions with someone physically present first.
| Program | One session | 4-week plan (12 sessions) | Per session on the plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Gym Training1:1, 45 minutes | ₹799 | ₹7,070 | about ₹589 |
| Personal Home Training1:1, 45 minutes | ₹899 | ₹8,080 | about ₹673 |
| Rehab & Recovery1:1, once a doctor or physio has cleared you | ₹1,299 | ₹12,121 | about ₹1,010 |
| Group ClassesPer person, small group | ₹499 | ₹4,040 | about ₹337 |
Each of our one-to-one sessions is 45 minutes, bookable from 6 AM to 8 PM on any day, and the 4-week plan is three a week. That plan puts a session at about ₹589, a little under UrbanPro's ₹650 Kolkata average but well above the many local trainers who charge ₹200–400. Per minute it's roughly ₹13 for us and ₹11 for a 60-minute session at ₹650. If price is all that matters, a good para gym trainer wins. Our guide to what an online personal trainer costs per month compares the online options, and our pricing page has every plan.
Durga Puja, the monsoon and Sector V hours: what moves the price
- When you want to train. The 6–8 AM hour, before the humidity sets in, and the hour after Sector V offices empty are the most wanted. Expect less room to bargain then than at 11 AM.
- Where you live. A trainer who can see three clients in one Salt Lake block earns more per working hour than one crossing to Howrah, and prices to match.
- The festival calendar. Some trainers sell shorter packages around Durga Puja, or pause them. Check whether a month that runs into the Pujas is pro-rated.
- Specialist work. Injury rehab, sports conditioning and contest preparation tend to sit at the top end, where the ₹1,000–3,000 listings above are.
- The extras. ₹1,000 with a diet plan and weekly check-ins buys something different from ₹300 for an hour on the gym floor.
Four checks before paying a Kolkata trainer
- 1
Check the certificate on SPEFL-SC
The skills council for sport and fitness, SPEFL-SC, runs NSQF-approved courses and a Find a Trainer search, so a certificate number can be looked up. Our article on choosing the right personal trainer explains the other qualifications you'll meet.
- 2
Book the free demo
Most trainers on UrbanPro's Kolkata page offered one. Notice whether they ask about injuries, medicines and your goal before the first set.
- 3
Ask the gym if outsiders are allowed
Para clubs and chains alike sometimes let only their own trainers coach on the floor. Confirm before paying anyone from outside.
- 4
Write down the rain and Puja rules
Sessions a month, minutes per session, what happens on a waterlogged evening or in festival week, and whether a diet plan comes with it. Then note your weights and reps each week so you can see whether the money is working.
