Personal trainer fees in Vizag: what 23 published rates show

Visakhapatnam has no published price list for personal trainers, and most gyms in the city quote a trainer's fee only at the desk. The most useful public data is UrbanPro, a marketplace where trainers set their own rates. Its Visakhapatnam personal trainer category showed 104 listings when we checked on 28 October 2026. Twenty-five appeared on the first page, and 23 of those gave an hourly fee. This table groups those 23 rates and names the parts of the city the trainers listed.

Read the table as a picture of the market, not a quote. The median, the rate in the middle when all 23 are lined up, was ₹500 an hour. UrbanPro's own summary for the category said the average was ₹750 an hour, which is pulled up by the single ₹4,000 listing. Trainers in the southern industrial belt around Gajuwaka and the Steel Plant tended to list lower rates than those in MVP Colony and Seethammadhara, though with so few listings that pattern is a hint, not a rule.

Gym trainer or personal trainer? UrbanPro's two Vizag categories

People in Vizag search for a “gym trainer” about as often as a “personal trainer”, and UrbanPro keeps the two as separate categories with different numbers. The gym category is smaller and its estimates are lower. Both were checked on 28 October 2026.

The monthly estimates in the last row are UrbanPro's site-wide figures, repeated on the Visakhapatnam pages, not something worked out from local listings. The local rates sit below them: if you hired the median Vizag trainer for 12 sessions you would pay about ₹6,000, the bottom of UrbanPro's band. A trainer who charges ₹750 or more is in the upper half of what the city's listings show, and should be able to explain what the extra buys, such as experience with older clients or a written plan between sessions.

What 12 sessions a month cost at Visakhapatnam rates

Most people train two or three times a week, so the monthly bill matters more than the hourly rate. Three sessions a week for four weeks is 12. Here is what that costs at the rates Vizag trainers actually list, next to the two MakeMyFitness one-to-one plans, which are also 12 sessions.

Most Vizag gyms are independent, single-branch businesses, and the ones we found online did not publish personal training prices. FITPASS, a multi-gym pass, listed 18 partner gyms in Visakhapatnam on its first page in October 2026, from Gajuwaka and Sriharipuram in the south to Akkayyapalem, Dondaparthy, VIP Road and Pendurthi further north and west. None showed a trainer fee. Gold's Gym, which publishes branch prices elsewhere in India, had no Visakhapatnam branch on its gym locator when we checked; its nearest Andhra Pradesh branches were in Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Guntur.

In practice, a Vizag gym will usually offer one of two arrangements: general floor help included in the membership, where a staff trainer watches the room, or a personal training add-on billed per month on top of the membership fee. The gap between the first two rows is about ₹1,070 a month. Whether that is worth it depends on the trainer you can find nearby: a certified coach at ₹500 an hour inside your own gym is a good deal, and if you have one, keep them. Home trainers along Vizag's long coastal city

Visakhapatnam spreads along the coast and inland, from the Steel Plant and Gajuwaka in the south to Madhurawada and the Rushikonda side in the north. A trainer who visits your home spends part of the day travelling between those areas, and that time is priced in, whether as a higher hourly rate or a fixed visiting charge. UrbanPro's site-wide estimate for at-home training was the same as for one-to-one sessions, ₹500 to ₹1,000 an hour, but the local listings do not say which rates include travel.

• Ask whether the rate includes travel, and whether it changes if you move from, say, Seethammadhara to Madhurawada.
• Ask what equipment the trainer brings. A home session with no weights becomes a bodyweight class.
• Agree on a missed-session rule. Rain in the monsoon and cyclone warnings on the coast can cancel visits, so know in advance whether a cancelled session is moved or lost.
