Marathon Navi Mumbai 2026: what ran this year

Navi Mumbai has flat, wide roads that suit fast racing, but its race calendar is thinner than Mumbai’s or Thane’s. Several local events are run by smaller organisers whose own websites we couldn’t find, so we built this list from race calendars and say so wherever an organiser’s page was missing. On 27 October 2026, all three local races we found for this year have already taken place.

Many people search for a ‘Navi Mumbai half marathon’ by that name. In October 2026 we couldn’t find an official site or a confirmed 2026 date for a race called that. The half marathon that race calendars did list in the city this year was the Kharghar Half Marathon in June. If you have a specific race in mind from an earlier year, look for the organiser’s Instagram page or ask your local running group, because smaller races often skip a year or change their name with a new sponsor.

Palm Beach 10K: racing on Navi Mumbai’s fastest road

The Palm Beach 10K, listed for 22–23 August 2026 with a 5K alongside, takes its name from Palm Beach Road, the 10 km, six-lane road between the Thane–Belapur road and CBD Belapur; check the organiser’s route map for the exact course. Great Runs describes the road as flat and smooth, which makes for quick running. The difficulty is the date: in August, Panvel estimates suggest about 676 mm of rain over 25 rainy days, so race morning may be wet and very humid. Train for it in July by running the car-free Sunday stretch of Palm Beach Road (1.6 km between the Vazirani and T S Chanakya signals, closed to vehicles from 6 to 9 AM) whatever the weather.

Kharghar half marathons in June

The Kharghar Half Marathon, listed with 21K, 10K, 5K and 3K races on 7 June 2026, falls right at the turn of the season. May and early June are the hottest, stickiest weeks of the year, with estimated highs of about 34 °C and lows above 26 °C, and the monsoon usually arrives during June. That means your long runs fall in April and May, when even a 6 AM start is warm. Do them early, carry water, judge them by effort rather than pace, and expect the race itself to be slower than a winter half. Kharghar’s Central Park, open from 6 to 9 AM, is the natural training base.

Marathon near Panvel: the trail race and the hills

People also search for a marathon in Navi Mumbai and Panvel together. The race calendars list one Panvel event for 2026: the Alexander Trail Race, an 18 km trail race on 17 October. Trail racing is a different sport from road racing: climbs, descents, loose ground and slower kilometres. If you plan to run it in 2027, add hill walking and climbing to your long runs from August, train your descending with slow step-downs in your strength sessions, and get used to running on wet ground at the end of the monsoon. Confirm the course and the date with the organiser.

The bigger races just outside Navi Mumbai

For a big-city race, Navi Mumbai runners have three within reach. Each has an official site, which makes the dates firmer than for the local races.

Major races near Navi Mumbai (official sites, checked 27 October 2026)

The Thane Half is the closest for runners in Airoli and Ghansoli, and its timed results can be used as qualifying times for major Indian races, subject to their own rules. The Tata Mumbai Marathon starts at CSMT, with marathon start waves from 5 AM and the start line closing at 5:30 AM, so from Navi Mumbai you need a firm plan to cross the creek well before dawn. Our guides to marathons in Mumbai and marathons in Thane cover both in detail.

Training ground: building a half marathon on Palm Beach Road and Nerul Lake

Navi Mumbai’s training geography is simple, and it suits half marathon training well. The Sunday car-free stretch of Palm Beach Road is exactly where and when a long run should happen: three traffic-free hours on flat tarmac. Nerul (Seawoods) Lake, just off the same road, has a dedicated 2.7 km path, the best measured loop in the city for tempo runs. Vashi runners have a 2.5 km joggers park loop at the north end of Palm Beach Road, and Kharghar runners have Central Park, about 119 hectares with a 1.5 km main track. Our guide to running tracks in Navi Mumbai has the details, hours and safety notes.

Sample week, eight to ten weeks before a half marathon, for a Navi Mumbai runner

Keep the tempo run and the long run at least two days apart, and don’t schedule a heavy leg session the day before Sunday. Our half marathon training plan for beginners gives the full 12-week build, and strength training for runners explains why the two strength days matter on a city’s worth of hard, flat road.

Pacing Navi Mumbai’s heat and rain

Check conditions and plan your timing, water and an indoor alternative.
Check conditions and plan your timing, water and an indoor alternative.

Navi Mumbai doesn’t have a public long-term IMD table of its own, so we use Climate-Data.org estimates for neighbouring Panvel as a guide. They show why race timing matters so much here. December and January are the best months to race, with estimated lows of 17–19 °C and almost no rain. May is the hottest, with highs around 34 °C and warm nights. July is the wettest, at about 1,074 mm over 27 rainy days, and August is not far behind.

  • For a June or August race: slow your planned pace and drink to a schedule. Humid air makes the same pace feel much harder, so run by effort in training and on race day.
  • For a January or February race: you can race close to your best, but by 8 AM the sun is strong, so start steady and save something for the last 5 km.
  • In every season: start Sunday long runs at 6 AM, when the car-free stretch opens, and finish before the traffic returns at 9.

Taper and race-week food

For a half marathon, cut your running over the last ten to fourteen days, keep a few short, quick efforts and make the final strength session light. In the last two days, eat familiar, easily digested carbohydrates: poha, upma, varan bhaat, chapati, idli and bananas, all easy to find across the nodes. Save fried snacks and very spicy food for after the race, and on race morning eat a breakfast you tested before your long runs. Our Maharashtrian diet plan and the protein intake calculator help you plan the training block, and our guide to healthy food in Navi Mumbai covers local meals.
