The Lucknow Run: the city’s half marathon, every November
People who search for a Lucknow marathon usually end up at the Lucknow Run, a timed half marathon that The Centrum group, based in Sushant Golf City, has organised since 2019. There is no full 42.195 km marathon on Lucknow’s calendar that we could verify in October 2026; the longest regular distance is 21 km. The organiser describes it as held “every year for the people of Lucknow”, and its gallery lists editions from 2019 through 2025, with the 3rd edition in 2021, the 4th in 2022, the 6th in 2024 and the 7th on Sunday, 2 November 2025.
The 8th edition is on Sunday, 1 November 2026, “the first Sunday of November” in the organiser’s words. Registration on the official booking page closed on 20 October 2026, and the 10 km category sold out. If you’re reading this after race day, the useful date is the next one: if the first-Sunday pattern holds, the 2027 race would fall on 7 November 2027, but treat that as an estimate until lucknowrun.com announces it.

| 5 km fun run | 7:00 AM (6:30 AM) | None | No | 8 |

What the Lucknow Run’s cut-offs mean for a first-timer
A 3 hour 30 minute limit over 21.1 km works out to an average of just under 10 minutes per kilometre. That is generous: a beginner who can jog slowly and walk briskly in between can finish inside it. The 10 km is tighter in relative terms: 1 hour 30 minutes is 9 minutes per kilometre, so a runner who walks long stretches needs to keep the walking fast.
The course shape helps with pacing. The official page describes every distance as an out-and-back: the half marathon turns at 10.5 km, the 10 km at 5 km, the 5 km at 2.5 km and the walk at 1.5 km. You see the leaders coming back, you know exactly how far you are from the turn, and the second half is the same road you’ve just run, so there are no surprises. The organiser lists water stations every 2 km, with energy drinks, snacks, first aid and ambulance support on the route. It does not publish a route map or road names, so we can’t tell you the exact course; the bib expo and race-day briefing are where that comes.
- Aiming to finish the 21 km: practise a steady jog with planned one-minute walks, and keep every kilometre under 9:30 so you bank time for the second half.
- Aiming to finish the 10 km: the 9-minute average is the number to train against. If you can cover 10 km in training at 8:30 per kilometre, race day is comfortable.
- Not ready for either: the 5 km fun run and 3 km walk have no cut-off and start at 7 AM, after the timed races have gone.
Lucknow marathon registration, fees and the bib expo
Lucknow Run entries go through the race’s own booking page on bookmyrace.in, linked from lucknowrun.com. For 2026 the fees were ₹1,999 for the 21 km, ₹1,575 for the 10 km and ₹850 for the 5 km or 3 km, with a 10% early-bird discount in 2025 that ran until mid-September. The listed entry benefits are a race T-shirt, a finisher medal and an e-certificate, with chip timing for the 21 km and 10 km.
Bibs and T-shirts are collected in person at the bib expo at GD Goenka Public School, Sector B, Sushant Golf City (Amar Shaheed Path), on the Friday and Saturday before the race (30 and 31 October 2026, 11 AM to 5 PM). There is a second registration desk at B-930, opposite Kukrail Bandha Road in Mahanagar. T-shirt sizes are fixed at registration and not swapped on race day, and the FAQ says transfers and cancellations are not entertained within 30 days of the race.

Lucknow marathon prize money: trophies, not cash
“Lucknow marathon prize money” is one of the most searched questions about the race, and the official answer is short: “There is No Prize Money; only winners’ trophies.” That’s from the Lucknow Run FAQ for 2026. If you see cash amounts quoted for a Lucknow race, they belong to a different event. The IIM Lucknow City Run (below) advertises prizes worth ₹1 lakh in total, with gift hampers, medals and certificates, but it is a 5 km and 10 km race, not a half marathon.
Other races in Lucknow: the IIM Lucknow City Run in February
The second race worth planning around is the Lucknow City Run, presented by Team Manfest-Varchasva, the team behind IIM Lucknow’s annual Manfest-Varchasva fest. Its 2026 edition was set for 1 February 2026 at Lohia Park, Gate 3, Gomti Riverfront, flagging off at 6 AM, with two timed races: a 5 km and a 10 km. The page says the run was back “after a year-long break”, so it is not held every year without fail; check the fest’s site in December or January for the next one.
| Lucknow Run | Lucknow City Run | |
|---|---|---|
| Organiser | The Centrum group | Team Manfest-Varchasva, IIM Lucknow |
| Usual month | First Sunday of November | Early February (2026 edition) |
| Longest distance | 21 km | 10 km |
| Start area | Not published; bib expo in Sushant Golf City | Lohia Park, Gate 3 |
| Prizes | Trophies only, no cash | Prizes worth ₹1 lakh in total |
The two races fit together well. A runner who finishes the November half marathon can keep three easy runs a week going through December and January and race the February 10 km for speed, in Lucknow’s coolest weather. If you’d like a coach to set that winter block around a full-time job, online personal training in Lucknow runs from 6 AM to 8 PM.
Training for the Lucknow Run through the monsoon and October
Because the Lucknow Run is in early November, a 12-week build starts in mid-August, in the wettest and most humid stretch of Lucknow’s year. IMD normals for 1991–2020 at Lucknow’s Amausi airport give August an average of 241.6 mm of rain over about 11 rainy days, with 77% relative humidity at 5:30 PM, a mean minimum of 25.6°C and a mean maximum of 33.4°C. September is only slightly kinder. Then, in October, rain almost stops (27.9 mm) and nights cool to a mean minimum of 19.5°C. Race morning in November averages a minimum of 13.3°C.
| Month | Mean min / max (°C) | Rain (mm) | Humidity, 5:30 PM |
|---|---|---|---|
| August | 25.6 / 33.4 | 241.6 | 77% |
| September | 24.4 / 33.4 | 162.1 | 73% |
| October | 19.5 / 32.8 | 27.9 | 62% |
| November (race month) | 13.3 / 29.0 | 2.5 | 59% |
| February (City Run) | 11.0 / 26.2 | 14.0 | 49% |
What that means in practice: the months you train in are 10 to 12 degrees warmer at dawn than the morning you race in, and far more humid. Training paces in August and September will feel slow and that is expected; they are not a measure of what you’ll run in November. Judge effort by breathing (you should be able to speak in short sentences on easy runs) rather than by the watch, and let the pace come down by itself in October. For the general structure of a first half marathon, see the half marathon training plan for beginners; the points below are the Lucknow adjustments.
- August and September: run early, run short, drink before you’re thirsty. Get out by 6 AM, carry water on anything over 45 minutes, and swap a run for an indoor strength session on mornings when a downpour floods your usual roads.
- Weigh yourself before and after one long run in September. A big drop tells you how much you sweat in Lucknow’s humidity and how much more to drink next time.
- October: the long runs grow. With rain gone and mornings cooler, this is when you build from 14 km to 18 km and practise race-morning food and a 5:45 AM start.
- Check the air before the long run. Late-autumn mornings across the Gangetic plain can turn hazy. On a poor-air morning, shorten the run or move it to a treadmill rather than skipping the week.
A 12-week Lucknow Run plan with strength work
This outline assumes you can already jog 30 minutes without stopping. It uses three runs and two short strength sessions a week, which suits office hours in Hazratganj or Gomti Nagar: two weekday runs before work, the long run on Sunday, and strength on two evenings. Distances are for the half marathon; for the 10 km, cap the long run at 10–12 km and add a few faster kilometres to the Wednesday run from week 6.
| Weeks | Dates (2026 example) | Weekday runs | Sunday long run | Strength |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | Mid to late August | 2 × 30–35 min easy | 8, 9, 10 km | 2 × 30 min, full body |
| 4–6 | September | 2 × 35–40 min, one with 4 × 3 min steady | 11, 12, 10 km (lighter week) | 2 × 30 min, add single-leg work |
| 7–9 | Late September to mid-October | 2 × 40–45 min, one with 20 min at race effort | 14, 16, 13 km | 2 × 25 min, heavier, fewer reps |
| 10–11 | Mid to late October | 2 × 40 min, one with 3 km at race pace | 18 km, then 14 km | 1–2 × 20 min |
| 12 | Race week | 2 × 25 min easy | Race: 21.1 km on Sunday | None after Wednesday |
- 1
Split squats, 3 × 8 each leg
Most of the half marathon is spent on one leg at a time. Split squats build that strength and expose a weaker side early.
- 2
Romanian deadlifts, 3 × 8
Hamstrings and glutes carry you through the last 5 km. Use dumbbells, a loaded bag or a barbell at the gym.
- 3
Calf raises, 3 × 15 slow
Calves take the load of every stride on an out-and-back road course. Do them on a step, one leg at a time once two legs feels easy.
- 4
Side plank and dead bug, 2 × 30 seconds each
A steady trunk keeps form from falling apart in the final kilometres, when the 5:45 AM start has caught up with you.
For why these lifts matter and how heavy to go, the strength training for runners guide explains it in full. Keep the hardest strength session at least two days away from the Sunday long run, and stop lifting heavy in race week.
Race week and race morning in Lucknow
Race week for the Lucknow Run starts with the bib expo on Friday or Saturday in Sushant Golf City. Collect early, check your T-shirt and chip, and go home. A 5:15 AM reporting time means waking at about 3:45 or 4 AM, so move bedtime earlier from Wednesday and do one short run at 5:45 AM in race week to rehearse.
- Dinner on Saturday: a normal home meal of rice or roti, dal and vegetables, not a wedding-style dinner or rich biryani. Our healthy food in Lucknow guide has the calorie numbers for local dishes.
- Breakfast at 4 AM: something you’ve already tried before a long run, such as two slices of bread with banana or a small bowl of poha, plus a glass of water.
- Layers for the start: early-November dawns average about 13°C, so wear a cheap layer you can drop before the gun and don’t need back.
- Pacing: start slower than you want to. The 10.5 km turn is the place to decide whether to speed up.
- Afterwards: walk for 10 minutes, eat within an hour, and keep Monday to a walk.
Where to train for a Lucknow race
Most Lucknow runners do their weekday miles close to home and save the long run for a park or the riverfront. Our running tracks in Lucknow guide covers the parks, loops and stadium tracks, with distances and timings. On a dry winter weekend, a hill walk is useful cross-training before a spring race: treks near Lucknow lists the ones within reach, and cycling in Lucknow suits an easy recovery day.
When rain, fog or bad air rules out the road, strength and mobility at home keep the week on track. Personal home training in Lucknow runs on live video, so a cancelled run becomes a 45-minute coached session instead of a missed day. If you want the numbers for your race-week eating, the TDEE calculator gives your daily energy needs as your mileage rises.
What a Lucknow race costs on top of the entry fee
The entry fee is the smallest part of a half marathon build. Shoes, a few weeks of extra food, and possibly a gym membership or a coach add up. Our gym fees in Lucknow guide compares memberships across the city, and personal trainer fees in Lucknow compares gym-floor trainers with online coaching. If you’d rather train in a small group, group classes in Lucknow cost ₹499 a session.
| Program | One session | 4-week plan (12 sessions) | Per session on the plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Gym Training1:1, 45 minutes | ₹799 | ₹7,070 | about ₹589 |
| Personal Home Training1:1, 45 minutes | ₹899 | ₹8,080 | about ₹673 |
| Rehab & Recovery1:1, once a doctor or physio has cleared you | ₹1,299 | ₹12,121 | about ₹1,010 |
| Group ClassesPer person, small group | ₹499 | ₹4,040 | about ₹337 |
