Gurgaon marathon 2026: road halves and Aravalli trails
Search for the Gurgaon or Gurugram marathon 2026 and you won’t find one flagship race. What Gurugram has instead is a calendar with two strands. Road half marathons and 10Ks run through the city’s sectors, and trail races use the Aravalli hills around Gurugram, Sohna and Manesar, some of them ultra distances. As of 27 October 2026, most of this year’s Gurugram road halves have already been run. The listings below come from the FatMarathoner Delhi NCR race calendar (updated 24 October 2026); they are aggregator dates, so confirm each one with the organiser before registering.
| Race | Date | Distances | Status on 27 October 2026 |

10K runs in Gurgaon and shorter community races
If a half marathon is a step too far, Gurugram’s 10K and 5K events are the place to start, and the city has plenty, several named after a mall, developer or brand. Beyond the races in the table, the same calendar lists the Footloose Run (10.5K and 5K) on 24 May 2026, the Foxed Run (21.1K, 10.5K and 5K) on 27 June, the Felix Plaza Family Run (10K, 5K and 3K) on 30 August and the Harvest Gold Global Race (10K, 5K and 3K) on 20 September. Next up is the Chalo Bharat Walkathon (10K, 5K and 3K), listed for 21 February 2027. A first 10K is a realistic goal after 8 to 10 weeks of steady training, and a timed 10K result on a measured course also counts towards entry for bigger races such as the Delhi Half.
Trail races in the Aravallis near Gurugram
Gurugram’s more distinctive races are off-road. The Aravalli ridge on the city’s edge gives trail runners rocky climbs and dirt tracks within an hour of home, and the same calendar lists several trail events:
- Red Stone Ultra, Gurugram: 8 February 2026; 50K, 32K and 16K.
- Trail-a-thon, Gurugram: 1 March 2026; 28K, 56K and 84K.
- Panikot Trail, Sohna: 22 March 2026; 22K and 11K.
- Lakes Forest Trail Run, Gurugram: 19 July 2026; 42.2K, 33K, 21.1K, 10.5K and 5K, a rare full-marathon distance in Gurugram, though on trail.
- Sohna Trail, Gangani: listed as upcoming on 21 December 2026; 50K, 25K and 10K.
Trail distances run slower than road distances because of climbs and rough footing, so a 25K trail race can take as long as a road half marathon or longer. If you’re new to trails, start with the shortest category, and train on Aravalli Biodiversity Park’s rolling paths first.
Race-day heat and air in Gurgaon, month by month
Gurugram’s races are spread across the year, so race-day conditions vary enormously. India Meteorological Department normals for Gurgaon (1991–2020) show why each season needs a different plan:
| Race month | Example race | Average high / low | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|---|
| February–March | Red Stone Ultra, Trail-a-thon, Runathon | 23.8 °C / 9.5 °C to 29.9 °C / 14.0 °C | Ideal temperatures; training ran through the smog season |
| May | Gurugram Grand Half Marathon | 40.9 °C / 24.6 °C | The hottest month: heat is the main risk |
| July–September | Lakes Forest Trail, Beyond F8, Elevate Miles | 35.9 °C / 26.7 °C to 34.1 °C / 24.4 °C | Humidity and 120–211 mm of rain a month |
| December | Sohna Trail | 22.5 °C / 7.5 °C | Cold start, and the air |
A May half in Gurgaon is a heat race. With average highs of 40.9 °C and lows of 24.6 °C, even a very early start is warm by the finish. Train some runs after sunrise in April so the heat isn’t a shock, drink at every station from the first, slow down by feel rather than chasing your planned pace, and know the signs of heat illness: dizziness, confusion, stopping sweating. Stop and get help if they appear.
Winter races carry an air-quality risk. In December 2025, with Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan in force, the Commission for Air Quality Management directed NCR states to make sure physical sports competitions scheduled that month were postponed, and told sports bodies to stop outdoor physical sports activities. A month later, Delhi’s AQI, which sets GRAP stages for Gurugram too, was 440 on 18 January 2026 and 410 on 19 January, and Stage IV ran from 17 to 20 January. If you enter a December or January race, check the postponement policy. CREA’s analysis of CPCB data placed Gurgaon among India’s ten most polluted cities from October 2025 to February 2026.
Where to train for a Gurgaon race
Aravalli Biodiversity Park is the heart of Gurugram race training. Its designated 3.5 km jogging track on cement paths over rolling hills gives you hill work inside a long run, and the Gurgaon Road Runners hold frequent group runs there. Mind the hours: 5:30 to 11 AM and 3 to 6:30 PM in summer, and 6 AM to 5:30 PM in winter. For measured intervals, Tau Devi Lal Biodiversity Park has a well-maintained asphalt loop of about 1 km. For long road runs, Great Runs points to the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, hilly and with traffic, so go at first light. Our guide to running tracks in Gurgaon covers each place and the CPCB stations to check.
| Planned session | Bad-air swap | Extreme-heat swap |
|---|---|---|
| Long run | Clearest day of the week, or 60–80 minutes easy on a treadmill | Start at first light; split into two shorter runs if needed |
| Hill repeats in Aravalli park | Incline treadmill or step-ups | Fewer reps, longer recoveries, before 7 AM |
| Intervals on a 1 km loop | Treadmill at 1% incline, same effort | Shorten the session; keep the effort |
| Easy run | Indoor bike or cross-trainer | Treadmill or early walk-run |
A Gurugram half marathon training week, with two strength sessions
This sample week is for someone eight to ten weeks from a road half who already runs about 20 km a week, built around Gurugram office hours. Our half marathon training plan for beginners gives the full 12-week build, and strength training for runners explains the lifting sessions.
| Day | Session | Where and when |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Strength 1: squats, Romanian deadlifts, calf raises, planks (45 minutes) | Society gym or home, after work |
| Tuesday | Easy run, 5–6 km, plus 4 × 20-second strides | Leisure Valley or a society track, before work |
| Wednesday | Hills: 6–8 climbs of 60–90 seconds, easy jog down | Aravalli Biodiversity Park, at opening time |
| Thursday | Strength 2: split squats, step-ups, single-leg work, core (45 minutes) | Society gym or home |
| Friday | Rest | Anywhere |
| Saturday | Intervals: 5 × 1 km at goal pace, 90 seconds easy between | Tau Devi Lal Biodiversity Park loop |
| Sunday | Long run, building from 10 km to 16–18 km | Aravalli park laps, starting at first light |
Taper, race-morning food and getting to the start in Gurgaon
In the last week before a half, cut your running by about a third, keep a few short, quick efforts, and make strength sessions light. In the last two days, eat familiar, easily digested carbohydrates: rice, roti, poha, bananas and toast. Save butter chicken, stuffed parathas and late client dinners for after the race. On race morning, eat a small, tested breakfast about two hours before the start, and allow for travel: road races usually start early, so plan the ride the night before.
If you’d like a bigger-field target, the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon runs in October at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, and needs a qualifying time from a certified race; our guide to marathons in Delhi explains the rules. For everyday eating through a training block, see our Punjabi diet plan for weight loss and guide to healthy food in Gurugram, and use the TDEE calculator to set your calories.
