Jaipur Marathon 2027 date and the 2026 edition
The AU Jaipur Marathon has been the city’s big race since it started in 2010, and it is usually run on a Sunday in late January or February, in the coolest weeks of Jaipur’s year. The 17th edition ran in early 2026 (aggregator listings give either 25 January or 1 February). The 18th edition is on Sunday 14 February 2027, and as of 27 October 2026 registration is open on the official site, marathonjaipur.com. It closes on 5 February 2027, or earlier if all places are filled.

The organisers, Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha and World Trade Park, with the event promoted by the Indian Institute of Event Management Research (IIEMR), also run Buddy Run categories at 42, 21, 10 and 5 km as world record attempts, and a virtual run you can complete anywhere on 14 February 2027, submitting your GPS data by 11:59 PM that day. The official site says the race welcomes over 1,00,000 participants every year; the World Book of Records recognised the 2018 edition, with 80,000 participants, as India’s largest running event.
Jaipur’s cut-offs are tighter than most: what they mean for your pace
The AU Jaipur Marathon’s official cut-offs are stricter than at many Indian city races. The half marathon must be finished in 3 hours, an average of about 8 minutes 32 seconds per kilometre, and the full in 5 hours 30 minutes, about 7 minutes 49 seconds per kilometre. The 10K closes at 1 hour 40 minutes and the 5K at 1 hour. After the cut-off, roads may reopen to traffic: you can continue at your own risk on the footpath, but services may be withdrawn and you may not get official timing, a medal or a certificate.
For a first-time half marathoner who walks some of the way, 3 hours is a real target, not a formality. If your recent 10K takes longer than about 1 hour 15 minutes, plan a run-walk strategy you have practised (for example, 4 minutes running and 1 minute walking) and check it lands you under 3 hours on a long training run before race day.
How to register, what it costs and how kit collection works
Registration is through the official site for Indian participants, with a separate route for overseas runners. There is no race-day registration, and entries are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-deferable under any circumstances. FatMarathoner’s race guide (updated 17 August 2026) lists fees of ₹3,000 for the full marathon and ₹2,500 for the half, both plus 18% GST, ₹599 for the 10K, and ₹5,000 per pair for the 42 km Buddy Run; confirm the current price on the official registration page, as fees can change.
Race kits (bib, timing chip and race T-shirt) are collected in person at the AU Jaipur Marathon Health & Lifestyle Expo on 12 and 13 February 2027, with your confirmation and a government photo ID. Kits are not couriered and not handed out on race day. Someone else may collect yours with a copy of your ID, your confirmation email and a signed authorisation. E-certificates are usually available within about 7 days of the race.
A 3 AM start in February: the course and race-morning weather
Wikipedia describes the course starting from the south gate of Ram Niwas Garden by the Albert Hall and passing Trimurti Circle, Birla Mandir, the University of Rajasthan, Kulish Smriti Van, MNIT, World Trade Park and Jawahar Circle. FatMarathoner’s guide says the full marathon is two laps of a roughly 21 km loop, on smooth tarmac and essentially flat apart from the Malviya Nagar and Tonk Road flyovers. If you train on a flat park loop, add some flyover-style short climbs to your plan.
February is Jaipur at its most runnable. India Meteorological Department normals (1991–2020) give the month an average high of 26.1 °C and low of 12.0 °C, with about 10 mm of rain. FatMarathoner estimates 10–12 °C at the 3 AM gun, rising to the low 20s by 9 AM. That means two things: full marathoners start cold and in the dark, so wear a throwaway layer to the start; and half marathoners starting at 5 AM will finish in pleasant sunshine. Winter is also Jaipur’s smoggiest season, so check the AQI in the last week and keep hard sessions indoors on bad days.
Other races in Jaipur and nearby
The AU Jaipur Marathon dominates, but smaller events fill the calendar. Dates below are from race aggregators, which are useful but not always right, so confirm each on the organiser’s own page.

Twelve weeks to 14 February: training through Jaipur’s winter
A 12-week build for 14 February starts in the third week of November, which is good timing: Jaipur’s November mornings average 14.4 °C and the air is dry. The longest runs fall in January, the coldest month (average low 8.4 °C), so the challenges are the opposite of a summer race:
- Warm up properly. On a 7 °C morning, 10 minutes of brisk walking, leg swings and easy jogging before your first fast step protects calves and Achilles tendons.
- Rehearse the 3 AM start. If you are running the full, do two long runs in January with a 1:30 AM alarm and a 2 AM breakfast, so race morning isn’t the first time.
- Drink in the dry air. Low humidity hides sweat loss. Weigh yourself before and after a long run once; a drop of more than about 2% of body weight means you need to drink more.
- Run the route. Central Park laps (4–5 km) and City Park in Mansarovar (3.5 km) are the safest long-run venues. Our guide to running tracks in Jaipur covers distances and opening hours.
A Jaipur half marathon training week with two strength sessions
This sample week is for someone eight to ten weeks out from the half marathon who already runs about 20 km a week. Our half marathon training plan for beginners gives the full 12-week build, and strength training for runners explains the lifting days.
| Day | Session | Where in Jaipur |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Strength 1: squats, Romanian deadlifts, calf raises, side planks (45 minutes) | Home or your colony gym |
| Tuesday | Easy run, 5–6 km, plus 4 × 20-second strides | Jawahar Circle laps |
| Wednesday | Tempo: 3 × 8 minutes at a comfortably hard pace, 2-minute jogs | Central Park loop |
| Thursday | Strength 2: reverse lunges, step-ups, hip thrusts, core (45 minutes) | Home or your colony gym |
| Friday | Rest or a 30-minute walk | Anywhere |
| Saturday | Easy run, 5 km, with 6 short uphill efforts | A flyover footpath or the ridge road in daylight |
| Sunday | Long run, building from 10 km to 16–18 km | City Park, Mansarovar, or Central Park laps |
Taper and race-week food, Rajasthani style
Cut your running back over the last one to two weeks (longer for a full marathon), keep a few short, quick efforts, and keep strength work light and familiar. Collect your kit on 12 or 13 February rather than leaving it to the last hour, as there is no race-day collection. The half marathon training plan for beginners sets out the taper week by week.
Rajasthani food is rich, so race week is about choosing the simpler dishes. In the last two days, eat familiar carbohydrates such as rice, phulka with moong dal, poha and bananas. Save dal baati churma, which is heavy with ghee, and fried pyaaz kachori and mirchi vada for the celebration afterwards. Bajra roti is a good winter staple in training but is high in fibre, so eat less of it in the last 24 hours. For a 3 AM full marathon start, a light breakfast around 1:30–2 AM (a banana and a slice of bread with peanut butter, say) is enough; test it on a long run first. Our TDEE calculator helps you set a calorie target for the training block.
