Running track in Jaipur: the loops worth knowing
Jaipur is a city of wide roads and very few traffic-free stretches, so most of its runners use one of three big, planned parks, each run by a government body, and save the open roads for Sunday mornings. They sit in different parts of the city: Central Park in the centre near Rambagh, City Park in the south-west colony of Mansarovar, and Jawahar Circle in Malviya Nagar near the airport. The table sets out what we could verify from Wikipedia, Incredible India and reports on the parks’ openings (checked October 2026).
| Place | Track length | Run by | Hours and entry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central Park, Rambagh | 4–5 km jogging and walking track (sources differ) | Jaipur Development Authority | 5 AM–9 PM; no fee mentioned in sources |
| City Park, Madhyam Marg, Mansarovar | 3.5 km track, 20 feet wide, lit | Rajasthan Housing Board | 6 AM–9 PM; an entry fee was reported in 2023, check at the gate |
| Jawahar Circle, Malviya Nagar | About 1.4 km round the outer ring | Jaipur Development Authority | Open access; check current timings |
| AU Jaipur Marathon route, JLN Marg | 21 km loop on city roads | Open roads | Only closed to traffic on race day |
Central Park: Jaipur’s best-known running track
Central Park is the answer to “best running track in Jaipur” for most people in the centre of the city. Built by the Jaipur Development Authority in 2006, it covers 129 acres next to the Rambagh Polo Ground and the Rambagh Golf Club, off Prithviraj Road. Wikipedia lists a jogging and walking track of about 4 km and opening hours of 5 AM to 9 PM all year; the Ministry of Tourism’s Incredible India page calls it a 5 km track. The difference is probably which paths you count, so measure your preferred loop once.
The park’s big advantage is that it is a closed loop in the middle of the city, so you can run 10–15 km by repeating laps without crossing a road. Mornings get busy with walkers, especially in the cool months, so run fast sections early and keep to one side of the path. The park’s very tall national flagpole makes a handy landmark for counting laps.
Running track in Mansarovar, Jaipur: City Park on Madhyam Marg
If you live in Mansarovar, Jaipur’s largest residential colony, the running track you are looking for is City Park on Madhyam Marg. The Rajasthan Housing Board built the 52-acre park on what used to be a Jaipur Metro junkyard, and it was inaugurated in October 2022. According to reports at the opening, its jogging track is 3.5 km long and 20 feet wide, with lighting and music along the route, which makes it one of the few places in Jaipur where an evening run after dark is comfortable.
Wikipedia lists City Park’s hours as 6 AM to 9 PM, so it opens an hour later than Central Park, which matters in May and June. The park is reachable by Jaipur Metro (Mansarovar station) and city buses. Reports in 2023 said an entry fee was being introduced; we couldn’t confirm the current amount, so check at the gate. For runners in Vaishali Nagar, Sodala and Mansarovar, a 3.5 km lap is a convenient unit: three laps make a solid 10 km.
Jawahar Circle: short laps in Malviya Nagar
Jawahar Circle on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, near the airport in Malviya Nagar, is a circular garden with a circumference of 1,420 metres and a diameter of 452 metres, according to Wikipedia. That makes the outer ring a lap of about 1.4 km. The park has several concentric paths, so inner loops are shorter. It is popular with walkers in Malviya Nagar and Jagatpura in the evenings, when the fountain show starts at 7 PM, so for steady running go early in the morning.
Synthetic running track in Jaipur: what we could confirm
Searches for a synthetic running track in Jaipur and a running stadium in Jaipur usually point to the Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium complex. We couldn’t find a current, published rule for public access to an athletics track there, or a fee, so we haven’t listed one. If you want measured intervals, ask the Rajasthan State Sports Council about passes, or use a fixed, measured stretch of a park loop instead.
For long runs, Jaipur’s best-measured route is the city’s marathon course. The AU Jaipur Marathon starts at the south gate of the Albert Hall on JLN Marg and runs a loop of about 21 km past Trimurti Circle, Birla Mandir, the University of Rajasthan, MNIT, World Trade Park and Jawahar Circle. Outside race day these are busy roads, so run sections of it very early on Sundays, on the footpath where there is one.
When to run in Jaipur: from razai mornings to 41 °C afternoons
Jaipur’s climate swings harder than most Indian cities. India Meteorological Department normals for 1991–2020, measured at Jaipur airport, put the average January low at 8.4 °C, with a record of −2.2 °C, and the average May high at 41.1 °C, with a record of 49.0 °C. The city gets only about 600 mm of rain a year, most of it in July and August. The dry air is a mixed blessing: sweat evaporates easily, but in April and May relative humidity falls below 20%, so you lose water faster than you notice.
| Month | Average high / low | Rain | Rainy days |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | 22.5 °C / 8.4 °C | 6 mm | 0.6 |
| February | 26.1 °C / 12.0 °C | 10 mm | 0.9 |
| March | 32.0 °C / 17.4 °C | 4 mm | 0.7 |
| April | 37.6 °C / 22.8 °C | 7 mm | 0.9 |
| May | 41.1 °C / 27.1 °C | 12 mm | 1.3 |
| June | 39.7 °C / 27.9 °C | 62 mm | 4.2 |
| July | 34.8 °C / 26.2 °C | 191 mm | 9.8 |
| August | 32.7 °C / 24.9 °C | 203 mm | 9.4 |
| September | 34.2 °C / 24.0 °C | 80 mm | 4.8 |
| October | 34.1 °C / 20.1 °C | 19 mm | 1.2 |
| November | 29.6 °C / 14.4 °C | 2 mm | 0.2 |
| December | 25.1 °C / 9.9 °C | 4 mm | 0.3 |
- November to February is the season, but dress for it. A 6 AM start in January can be close to 8 °C, so wear a layer you can tie round your waist, warm up indoors for five minutes, and don’t start fast on cold muscles. This is when the AU Jaipur Marathon is run, in February.
- March is the last comfortable month; average highs reach 32 °C.
- April to June is too hot for anything but short, early runs. Central Park opens at 5 AM, City Park at 6 AM: on 40 °C days the hour makes a difference. Carry water even for 30 minutes.
- July to September brings most of the year’s rain in short bursts. Morning runs are often possible, but watch for waterlogged roads.
- October is warm by day (34 °C average high) but mornings cool quickly. Build your base here for a February race.
Dust, smog and air quality for Jaipur runners
Jaipur’s air is a concern in winter, its best running season. In its analysis of Central Pollution Control Board data from 1 October 2025 to 28 February 2026, the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) found that 33 of the 34 Rajasthan cities with enough data averaged above India’s PM2.5 standard of 40 µg/m³, and Bhiwadi in Rajasthan was among the ten most polluted cities in the country. No Indian city met the WHO guideline of 5 µg/m³. Summer brings dust instead, with dry winds off the desert.
Practical rules: run inside the parks rather than beside Tonk Road or the Ajmer Road traffic, check the AQI on the CPCB’s Sameer app before a hard session, and on poor days swap intervals for an indoor strength session.
Hills, clubs and races: building a Jaipur running habit
The parks are flat, so for hill strength look to the Aravalli ridge that rings the old city, including the road up to Nahargarh Fort. We couldn’t find a reliable published distance or climb for it, so treat it as an effort session: run up steadily for a set time, walk down, and go only in daylight with company, and watch for vehicles.
Jaipur’s running community grows every winter around the AU Jaipur Marathon, whose official site has a training hub, a running academy and a running clubs section. Most groups organise on WhatsApp and Instagram and meet at Central Park or City Park on weekend mornings. Our guide to the Jaipur Marathon 2027 date, cut-offs and training has the race calendar and a training week.
Strength work for Jaipur runners
Cold mornings stiffen tendons and long summer months keep you off the roads, so Jaipur runners get more than most from two short strength sessions a week. This 25-minute routine fits a living room or a terrace on a winter morning. Our national guide to strength training for runners explains the sets, progressions and why it helps.
- 1
Reverse lunges, 3 × 8 each leg
Single-leg strength for hill efforts on the ridge roads, easier on the knees than forward lunges.
- 2
Hip thrusts or glute bridges, 3 × 12
Glutes power your stride and protect the lower back on long road runs.
- 3
Bent-knee and straight-knee calf raises, 2 × 15 each
Covers both calf muscles, which take a beating on hard Jaipur roads.
- 4
Copenhagen side plank (short lever), 3 × 20 seconds each side
Inner-thigh and hip stability for uneven park paths.
If you train at a colony gym in Vaishali Nagar or Malviya Nagar, Personal Gym Training in Jaipur puts the same coach on your phone there. Running with cousins or friends? Group classes in Jaipur cost ₹499 per person for a live session. For weekend hikes in the Aravallis, see our guide to treks near Jaipur, and to fuel your mileage use our TDEE calculator.
