Online personal trainer in Chicago

A coach on video when the Lakefront Trail is under snow.

Chicago trains hard from May to October and then the lake wind arrives. MakeMyFitness covers the other six months. You train one-on-one for 45 minutes with a certified coach who joins by video and fixes your technique rep by rep, in a condo, a high-rise gym or the Park District fieldhouse down the block. The coaching team works from India, which puts Chicago slots at dawn and after dinner, Central time. A session costs $25.

Why Chicago trains online

Winter stops the run, not the plan

O'Hare averages 38.4 inches of snow a year, and January highs average 31.6°F (−0.2°C). When the Lakefront Trail is ice and wind, your session goes ahead on schedule in the living room.

That high-rise gym, finally used well

Plenty of towers in Streeterville, River North and the South Loop have a fitness room with dumbbells and a cable stack. Set your phone on the bench and your coach builds every set around what's actually there.

Done before the L

The 'L' carried 447,000 riders on an average weekday in the second quarter of 2026. Train at 6 AM at home and you board the Red or Brown Line with the workout already finished.

Lake-effect seasons

38.4 inches of snow, then 84°F Julys

NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for O'Hare put January at 31.6°F (−0.2°C) by day and 18.8°F (−7.3°C) at night, with about eight nights a year at or below 0°F. July averages 84.5°F (29.2°C). By the lake it's usually cooler in spring and milder in winter. Either way, a session on video never gets snowed out.

Radiator on, mat unrolled

It's dark and probably below freezing outside. Push the coffee table aside, lean the phone against a shelf and fill a water bottle.

Your coach logs on

Squats, presses, rows and intervals, each rep checked on camera. In a vintage walk-up, ask for floor-friendly moves so the unit below sleeps on.

On the platform, workout done

You're at Belmont or Clark/Lake at the usual time, but the training is finished and the evening is free for the kids, the commute home or a Cubs game.

The late shift option

Can't face a 6 AM alarm? Night owls and parents book a slot once the house goes quiet. Evening slots start at 7:30 PM Central in every month of the year.

Neighbourhoods

Your coach joins on video, so your neighbourhood never limits who coaches you. Check yours.

Training online in Chicago

Questions people in Chicago ask before their first session.

  • Expect roughly $65 to $150 a session in person: that's FitBudd's May 2026 Chicago figure, and Gymkee's March 2026 table says $65 to $120 an hour. Gym dues are extra. For comparison, MakeMyFitness coaches Chicago clients one-on-one over live video for $25 per 45-minute session, and the coach corrects your technique on camera while you train.
