Budget $70 to $150 per in-person hour with a Miami trainer: that's the range in the one city-level price table we found that loads. FitBudd's breakdown, revised May 27, 2026, sets Miami below New York ($100–250+) and Los Angeles ($80–200+) yet above the $60–100 it gives as the urban norm nationwide. Miami clubs don't post their training packages, and no agency publishes a going rate, so what follows mixes published estimates with gyms' own membership pages, all opened on October 28, 2026.

Miami costs less than Manhattan at the bottom of the market and about the same at the top. Twelve sessions at FitBudd's floor cost $840 here; the same month at New York's floor is $1,200. Trainero, though, groups Miami with New York and Los Angeles as the cities where premium trainers ask $150–300 or more an hour. That premium tier is what you'll be quoted in South Beach and along Brickell Avenue.

Why do Miami trainers charge $50 at one gym and $300 at another?

Three kinds of seller share the Miami training market, and each prices the hour its own way: a chain with a fixed rate sheet, a freelancer, and a well-known name with a client list.

  • Chain-gym trainers. By Trainero's account, a big-box trainer charges whatever the club sets, commonly $60–120. FitBudd Academy splits it further: $30–60 at budget chains, $50–90 at mid-tier ones such as LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness. Crunch Doral sells a one-hour CrunchONE Kickoff with a coach for $10, then prices ongoing training by goal and frequency, so that $10 is a door-opener, not a rate.
  • Luxury chains. FitBudd Academy's US-wide figure for Equinox and Life Time trainers is $90–200 or more a session. Neither chain lists training prices on its site; you get a number after the tour.
  • Freelancers. FitBudd Academy's national range is $60–120 a session, travel extra. Before you sign in Miami, find out whether the drive over the MacArthur or the Rickenbacker to your building ends up on your bill, and who covers valet or garage parking.
  • The premium tier. Trainero's $150–300-plus is the price of a trainer with a waiting list: private sessions in Brickell condo gyms, workouts on the sand.

Bundles shave the rate but raise the commitment. Per Trainero, buying 10 or 20 sessions up front usually knocks 10–20% off each one; a $150 South Beach hour at 20% off is still $120. Bundles also carry expiry dates, and a Miami summer of storms, trips home and visiting relatives burns through a 60-day window quickly.

What does a gym membership cost in Miami in 2026?

Gym access and personal coaching are separate parts of the budget.
Gym access and personal coaching are separate parts of the budget.

Miami gym dues ran from $9.99 to $127.20 a month across the club pages we checked on October 28, 2026, and the neighborhood explains most of the gap. Both ends of that range were Crunch clubs: Doral, west of the airport, at the bottom, and Washington Avenue on South Beach at the top.

The two Crunch clubs sell different products. Doral offers Base, Peak and Peak Results tiers, sauna on every tier, and a $15 day pass for visitors from out of the area. South Beach is a Signature club on One Crunch and All Crunch plans, and its single-club price was $63.51 a month above Doral's top tier. On both pages the dues exclude enrollment, annual and processing fees, so get the all-in figure at the front desk.

Miami Beach's lowest-priced gyms are run by the city

Miami Beach's two municipal fitness centers, Scott Rakow on Sheridan Avenue and North Shore on 72nd Street, charge residents $29 a month and non-residents $52. City residents 55 and older pay nothing under the Senior Fitness Membership. Mind the timetable: on the schedule for August 18, 2025 to June 7, 2026, both opened weekdays from 7:30 AM to 1 PM and again from 6:15 to 8 PM, shut through the afternoon, with no one on staff writing programs.

What's the real monthly bill for a Miami trainer plus the gym?

Put 12 in-person sessions and a membership together and a Miami month lands between roughly $625 and $1,900; swap the trainer for live online coaching and it's about $233 to $275. These sums come straight from the figures above, so treat them as a guide to the gap, not a quote.

In other words, coaching with us at Crunch Doral costs $700.51 less a month than FitBudd's lowest Miami rate paired with a South Beach membership. You aren't buying a cut-price version of the same hour. The coach is on a screen, not next to the rack, which strips out the trainer's drive down I-95, the club's margin and Washington Avenue rent.

Matching Miami's options to the people they fit:

  • Hire in person if you need hands-on spotting under a heavy bar, physical cues on your hips, or sessions out on the sand. We aren't the right fit for that, since nobody on a screen can grab a failing rep.
  • Take the membership alone (Crunch Doral from $9.99, the Miami Beach city gyms from $29) if you already run your own program and nobody needs to watch your technique.
  • Choose MakeMyFitness if you want a coach watching every set three days a week for $223 a month, and your schedule allows the early slot (5–9:30 AM) or the late one (8:30 PM–midnight) Eastern.

Is a personal trainer cheaper in Doral or Kendall than in Brickell or South Beach?

Compare the cost and what each option includes.
Compare the cost and what each option includes.

Gym dues in Miami drop sharply as you head west of the airport, going by the club pages we checked in October 2026. Doral's priciest Crunch tier was $29.99; South Beach's cheapest single-club plan was $93.50. Miami Beach's city gyms shrink that difference to $29 for residents, if you live on the island and your schedule matches their hours.

Trainer rates are another matter: we found no source that splits Miami by neighborhood, and we'd rather leave a gap than make up a Brickell figure or a Coral Gables one. For the beach and Brickell, Trainero's premium tier is the nearest published guide. For Doral, Kendall or Hialeah, the chain-gym ranges fit better. Get written rates from two trainers near home and set them beside the table at the top.

Six questions to put to a Miami trainer before you sign

Compare the cost and what each option includes.
Compare the cost and what each option includes.
  1. 1

Is the hour really an hour?

Session lengths in Miami vary, so price per minute: $75 for 30 minutes works out at $150 an hour. A MakeMyFitness session runs 45 minutes, and the rate doesn't change with the time slot.

  2. 2

Do I need a membership too, and what fees come with it?

Club trainers mostly coach members. Crunch's dues are shown before enrollment, annual and processing fees, so fold those in before you compare.

  3. 3

Where do outdoor sessions go in summer?

If your trainer works on the sand or in a park, ask what happens in a July thunderstorm or on a 90°F morning. A rained-off session you've prepaid is money gone.

  4. 4

How long is the bundle valid?

Twenty sessions in 60 days means 2.3 a week. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and a run of storm watches can wipe out a block of bookings.

  5. 5

What if I need to cancel?

Find out the notice period and whether a late cancel costs you the session. MakeMyFitness lets you reschedule for free with 24 hours' warning.

  6. 6

    What are you certified in?

Ask which qualification and when it was earned. Kumar Abhishek, who leads our coaches, trained at K11 School of Fitness Sciences, where he earned a Diploma in Personal Training and qualified as a Human Performance Nutritionist; he's also TRX Suspension Training certified. He has no US credential like NASM or ACE, and our coaches work from India.

Is online personal training worth the money in Miami?

A coach joins live on video and guides each movement.
A coach joins live on video and guides each movement.

For most Miamians it is: $25 buys a coached 45-minute session in the air conditioning, against $70 or more for an hour in person, often outdoors at 90°F. MakeMyFitness runs every session live over video, one to one, with a certified coach checking each rep and fixing your technique in real time. Our Miami clients train in three settings: their tower's amenity gym, a Crunch or city gym they already pay for, or the living room floor. We have no studio and make no house calls. Plans bill in US dollars, on US cards.

Because our coaches work from India, Miami's window is 7:30 PM to 9:30 AM Eastern through the winter and 8:30 PM to 10:30 AM once daylight saving starts. Book early (5 to 9:30 AM) or late (8:30 PM to midnight) and your slot never shifts. That matches how Miami already trains: a 5:30 AM session in Edgewater ends before the sun is over the bay, and a 9 PM one in Kendall starts after bedtime, once the Palmetto has emptied.

Where a screen falls short

Over video, nobody can spot your bench, pass you a plate or nudge your hips into place. Save max attempts for a training partner or an in-person trainer. The rest, from learning the deadlift to a three-day strength block before the Miami Half Marathon, works with a coach who watches you on camera and talks you through each rep, and that covers most of what Miami trainers bill $70 to $150 for.

Our Miami page shows a coached day around the commute. For routes and seasons, staying fit in Miami measures the Beachwalk, the Venetian Causeway and The Underline; healthy eating in Miami counts the calories in a Cuban sandwich, a croqueta and a Pollo Tropical platter. Other US cities are on our US page.
