Personal Gym Training
Your coach on a phone propped by the rack, whether that's a Park District fitness center in Lincoln Square or the weights room in a West Loop tower.
From $25 / session
A coach on video when the Lakefront Trail is under snow.
Chicago trains hard from May to October and then the lake wind arrives. MakeMyFitness covers the other six months. You train one-on-one for 45 minutes with a certified coach who joins by video and fixes your technique rep by rep, in a condo, a high-rise gym or the Park District fieldhouse down the block. The coaching team works from India, which puts Chicago slots at dawn and after dinner, Central time. A session costs $25.

Why Chicago trains online
O'Hare averages 38.4 inches of snow a year, and January highs average 31.6°F (−0.2°C). When the Lakefront Trail is ice and wind, your session goes ahead on schedule in the living room.
Plenty of towers in Streeterville, River North and the South Loop have a fitness room with dumbbells and a cable stack. Set your phone on the bench and your coach builds every set around what's actually there.
The 'L' carried 447,000 riders on an average weekday in the second quarter of 2026. Train at 6 AM at home and you board the Red or Brown Line with the workout already finished.
NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for O'Hare put January at 31.6°F (−0.2°C) by day and 18.8°F (−7.3°C) at night, with about eight nights a year at or below 0°F. July averages 84.5°F (29.2°C). By the lake it's usually cooler in spring and milder in winter. Either way, a session on video never gets snowed out.

Questions people in Chicago ask before their first session.
Expect roughly $65 to $150 a session in person: that's FitBudd's May 2026 Chicago figure, and Gymkee's March 2026 table says $65 to $120 an hour. Gym dues are extra. For comparison, MakeMyFitness coaches Chicago clients one-on-one over live video for $25 per 45-minute session, and the coach corrects your technique on camera while you train.
Winter is where it pays off. O'Hare averages 38.4 inches of snow a year, most of it in January and February, plus roughly eight nights at or below 0°F. That's when runs get cancelled and the drive to the club feels optional. A session in your own living room isn't affected. Bring a phone or laptop and enough floor to lie down on.
In winter, Chicago slots open at 6:30 PM and run until 8:30 AM Central. From March, when daylight saving starts, it's 7:30 PM until 9:30 AM. If you want one booking that never shifts, pick between 5 and 8:30 AM or between 7:30 and 11 PM. A 6 AM start before the commute and 9 PM once the kids sleep are the usual picks.
Yes. The Park District runs 69 fitness centers in its fieldhouses, and plenty of downtown towers have a fitness room on an amenity floor. Lean your phone against a bench so the coach sees your whole body, and the workout is written around that room's dumbbells and machines. Personal Gym Training is $25 per session, or $223 for a 4-week block of 12.
The coaching team works from India; that's why Chicago times sit at dawn and late evening. Kumar Abhishek, our lead coach, trained at K11 School of Fitness Sciences, earning a Diploma in Personal Training and a Human Performance Nutritionist qualification, and he's certified in TRX Suspension Training. He has no American credential like NASM or ACE.
