A coach on your screen, from Leith Links to the Braids
MakeMyFitness puts a qualified coach on your phone or laptop, live, wherever you train in Edinburgh: a Marchmont tenement, the PureGym at Quartermile, a Fringe digs in Newington. They watch each set and fix your technique while you move. We coach Edinburgh clients between 6 AM and 2:30 PM, which suits dark winter mornings, lunch hours and home-working days. A coached gym session costs £19; local trainers typically charge £45–£65.

Why Edinburgh trains online
The Met Office station at the Royal Botanic Garden records just 49 hours of sunshine in the whole of December and 55 in January (1991–2020 averages). A run up Arthur’s Seat before work isn’t happening then. A 7 AM session in the living room, lights on, does.
The 2025 Fringe ran for 25 days, sold more than 2.6 million tickets and used 301 venues. Getting across the Old Town to a gym in August is slow. If you work in the festivals or just live near the Royal Mile, a session at home keeps the routine going.
Arthur’s Seat rises to 251 m in Holyrood Park and the Pentlands top out at 579 m on Scald Law. Edinburgh gives you the cardio for free. What it doesn’t give you is someone checking your squat and building the leg strength that makes those climbs easier.
Edinburgh is cool all year rather than harsh. At the Royal Botanic Garden weather station, 1991–2020 records give July highs of 19.3°C and December lows of 1.6°C, with about 43 frosty days and 128 wet days annually. October brings the most rain, 75.7 mm. Light is the bigger problem: May averages 195 hours of sunshine, December only 49. That swing is why many people here train outdoors in summer and indoors from November.

Questions people in Edinburgh ask before their first session.
Expect £45–£65 per session at most Edinburgh trainers, going by Bruce Millar’s 2025 guide to Scottish prices; gym-floor trainers sit at £40–£55 an hour and boutique studios at £60–£80. Lean Bodies in Leith lists £50 for 60 minutes. For comparison, MakeMyFitness coaches people in Edinburgh live on video at £19 per 45-minute gym session, or 12 sessions for £167.
Any slot from 6 AM until 2:30 PM, every month of the year. Between the end of March and late October, while the clocks are forward, the last slot moves to 3:30 PM. Our coaches work from India, so evenings in Scotland are out. Most Edinburgh clients choose 6:30 or 7 AM, a 12:30 PM lunch hour, or mid-morning when working from home.
Yes. Your coach can build a full session with no jumping: tempo squats, split squats, floor presses, banded rows and slow core work. Old timber floors in Marchmont and the New Town carry sound, so we plan around them from day one. Kit-wise, a phone propped up, a yoga mat and ideally two dumbbells cover it.
It will. PureGym’s Quartermile and Fort Kinnaird off-peak hours run from midnight to 15:30 on weekdays, and Craigleith’s to 16:00 (checked 28 October 2026). Our winter slots stop at 2:30 PM, so every one falls inside off-peak hours. Off-Peak at PureGym Edinburgh West on Gorgie Road was £20.99 a month.
No, and we don’t claim any UK award. Nuffield Health, for one, says its Edinburgh trainers are on the CIMSPA register. Kumar Abhishek, who leads our coaching, studied at K11 School of Fitness Sciences for a Diploma in Personal Training and a Human Performance Nutritionist qualification, and is certified in TRX Suspension Training. He and our other coaches work from India.
You pay in pounds with a UK debit or credit card, after booking through this page’s form or by WhatsApp. Rescheduling needs 24 hours’ warning, handy when a Fringe shift or a snowy morning upends the week. The 4-week plan bundles 12 sessions at three per week.
