Why Cardiff trains online
The Met Office station in Bute Park records 1,203 mm of rain in an average year, falling on 153 days, and from October to January every month tops 125 mm. A run round Roath Park Lake is lovely in May. In November the session that actually happens is the one in your living room.
Cardiff has four PureGyms, at Wood Street, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff Gate and Western Avenue, with Off-Peak plans from £19.99 a month. Trainers there set their own rates. Prop your phone against a rack and your coach on video takes over the programming, the counting and the form checks.
Pen y Fan, at 886 metres the highest peak in South Wales, is the hill most of the city climbs at some point. The well-made path from Storey Arms still gains about 446 metres. Squats, lunges and step-ups through the week make that a walk you enjoy rather than survive.
Cardiff is one of the wettest big cities in Britain. The Met Office’s 1991–2020 averages for Bute Park give 139.6 mm of rain in December, July highs of 21.8°C and January lows of 2.5°C, with about 33 frosty days a year. December brings only 50 hours of sunshine for the whole month, against almost 200 in July. Indoor strength work through the winter, and the Taff Trail when it’s dry, is how many people here keep going.

Questions people in Cardiff ask before their first session.
Expect roughly £40 to £45 an hour. Fresha says getting started costs around £45 on average in Cardiff, and its listings showed one-hour sessions at £40 and £45 on 28 October 2026. PureGym says its trainers outside London typically charge £30 to £65. MakeMyFitness runs live one-to-one online personal training for Cardiff from £19 for 45 minutes, with a certified coach watching and fixing your technique on video.
Through the winter months you can book any slot from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, Cardiff time; once British Summer Time starts, the last slot moves to 3:30 PM. Evenings aren’t available, because our coaches work from India. Cardiff clients mostly pick 6 or 7 AM, a 12 o’clock lunch hour, or a mid-morning on a home-working day.
Yes. Clear about two metres by one, prop a phone or laptop where it sees your whole body, and have a mat plus one or two dumbbells or a band. Your coach watches live and corrects you as you go. Sessions can be kept low-impact, with no jumping, if you share walls or floors.
No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Our lead coach, Kumar Abhishek, studied at K11 School of Fitness Sciences, where he earned a Diploma in Personal Training and qualified as a Human Performance Nutritionist; he is also TRX Suspension Training certified. He and our other coaches are based in India and coach Cardiff clients live over video.
You pay in pounds with an ordinary UK debit or credit card, and you can book on this page’s form or on WhatsApp. Twelve sessions over four weeks cost £167 for Personal Gym Training. If an international at the Principality Stadium or a work trip clashes, move the session by giving us 24 hours’ notice.
Do both. Bute Park’s 130 acres and the 6.5-mile loop round Cardiff Bay and Penarth are made for running on dry days. But with rain on 153 days a year, a coached strength session at home is the part of the week the weather can’t cancel, and it makes those runs feel easier.
